Hello my most friendly of Friends!

Yes, I know... it's been forever and one day since we last had some love of a newsletter. Sincere and significant apologies are offered most humbly to all.  However, in my defense, if you've hung out with me even a little bit you're sure to understand that I'm much more talk than I am acting upon that which I talk much about.

Anyway... I was hoping we could end the year out in proper way.  And by proper I mean with with poetry.

How about you send me your end-of-year haiku or other forms of poetry - heck, we'll even include some micro fiction of 200 words or less for good measure - and then I'll package them up and share them with this here group full of lovely subscribers.  And I'll take those that I think best fit the end-of-year spirit and share those with the blog.  What say ye?

If ye say yea, then send your seasonal blast of artistic genius to me via my contact page by the end of Christmas, aka, Friday, December 25, and I'll share it, and all the others I receive, via the Newsletter on New Year's Eve, aka, Thursday, December 31, 2015, and I'll post my favorite(s) on the blog as my first post of 2016, aka, Friday, January 1, 2016.

So what else?  Oh yeah...

Speaking of all talk and no action...  Yes, I know I was supposed to publish a short story collection this year.  Well, needless to say, chances are I'm not gonna make it and its publishing will have to pushed into next year.  It still needs at least three more proper length short stories and and a few more flash fiction stories and I just haven't had a chance (read: motivation) to write them.

And, yes, I still have to publish the long-awaited (meaning, long-neglected) second part of Hercules Gone Mad.  It's pretty much written so all I really need to do is get it cleaned up all pretty like.  I hope to get it up by early next year (I think I may have said the exact same thing last year about this year).

But the good news is I have been working on and am close to completing other as-of-yet unannounced projects.  And here, in our little space of newsletter love, is where I shall announce them first...  That's what newsletters are for, right?  Early warning systems...

Anyway, I am just about finished putting together another poetry book.  It is called "Short Verses & Other Curses: Haiku, SenryÅ«, Tanka, & Other Poetic, Artistic, & Photographic Miscellany."  It is a collection of all that poetry and other stuff that I've posted to the blog since my last poetry book.  It has been very enjoyable for me to put it together, for must of its early poetry and haiku was written early into my recovery from all the cancer stuff so it is very interesting for me to go back and see how my journey has evolved since then.

Speaking of cancer: I have decided to publish my "How Not To Die In 13 Easy Step" article as a short ebook.  I am expanding it some and including relevant poetry and short (very short) stories.  I will donate a portion of the proceeds raised from the sale of the book to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

If you would like a pre-release copy of either the poetry book or how to not die book, and would be willing to write a review for them, please let me know and I can send you copies for your review in whatever e-reader format you prefer.

And finally, the most exciting news I have to report is that I am going to be making movies!  Earlier in the year I began studying about script writing and writing short scripts as practice.  Not long after, I adapted "LEAVE: A Short Story" into a script and I am now very happy to announce that the script will be made into a short film.  It has just been picked up by a director in Los Angeles and filming will begin out there in March 2016. I will send out all the details soon, especially how you can help support this independent project to help bring it to a successful fruition.  And by successful fruition I mean one that will culminate with a win at Sundance and a follow-on adaptation of my novel The Sea Trials of an Unfortunate Sailor into a feature- lengthy movie.  A boy can have his dreams, can't he...

Check out the short story from which the script was adapted:

Right on?
Write on...

That's all I got for now. I expect we'll be seeing a bit more Newsletter Love activity in the coming days and months so get your pen to paper and write me some magic so I can share it throughout the magical literary land.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Ho ho ho...
