How to experience JOY
this Christmas

Two thousand and seventeen has certainly flown by in a hurry. As we reflect on this year and prepare to celebrate Christmas, our family is looking forward to spending time together off the farm and around some dinner tables! As we prepare for the dinners and gatherings, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of this time of year, causing us to forget the reason we celebrate. Our challenge this year to is to find the JOY that Christmas gives us. (Side note: Enjoy our snow photos below from 12/9/17)

Take a moment to think of the word J.O.Y. as an acronym. I'm certain you could come up with several (Jokes On You... Just Organize Yourself!), but here's one that I hope helps you experience Christmas differently this year.

J- Jesus
This one can be summed up pretty short and sweet. The gift God gave us so many years ago was His son. He didn't come wrapped up in glitz and glitter with a bow - but he came being born in a stable. He was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. Reflecting on this particular gift is important daily, but especially during the Christmas season. Take time the time to remember Him and welcome Him into your home this year!
O- Others
Do you have a neighbor you haven't met yet? Friend from school that you keep saying you want to have dinner with? (and take a Jaemor fruit basket to...!) Or does a stranger you don't even know need help pushing a grocery buggy to their car? Take the time this holiday season to be good to others. What better gift can you give than your time.
Y- Your Family
Although a lot of our family works together at the farm, the holidays allow us to see everyone. This year we are thankful to be spending it with three new members of the family via the three great-grand children additions that we welcomed in 2017! In December we also celebrate Pop's birthday (He turned 81 yesterday!) We are grateful for his big heart and vision for this farm and that has now been passed down to generations four and five of our family. This Christmas we challenge you to be still, turn off the distractions of cell phones and other technology to take the time be with family! Yet again, what better gift can you give a loved one than your time.

May you find JOY this Christmas via spending TIME together and reflecting on the birth of our Savior!
