Strawberry season is almost  h e r e !

Crop Updates 2019

We are literally Marching into April grateful for the weather being on our side for the most part in the past few weeks as peach blossoms have peaked, turning the orchard into a photographer's paradise. With Easter not being until April 21st this year, it makes the frost watch extend a little further into April then what we typically prefer, but that is part of the risk we take being a farm family. The good news is that the ten and 15-day forecasts appear to be 35* temperatures and above. I think it's definitely safe to say spring has arrived!
Speaking of spring, we have been busy preparing for school tours (kick off April 17th), in addition to our spring date nights, u-pick strawberry event and summer canning classes. See details below on these opportunities!
Our strawberry crop is in full bloom as our honeybees have been enjoying these sweet, white blossoms in Hall, Habersham and Banks Conuties. This year we have a little over 300,000 strawberry plants in the ground. Drew refers to this time as 'Sitting on G, waiting on O' meaning that "Go time" or harvest is literally right around the corner. With the clear skies, cooler mornings plus warmer afternoons, we anticipate seeing lots of red in the berry fields within the next ten days. As always - we be sure to update you via email and on social media as to when our markets are stocked with berries. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and Instagram account in the coming days for a strawberry updates.
