A Life-Changing Trip to the Middle East

I just returned from a life-changing trip to Jordan with my M.A. Global Theology cohort. We are studying global Islam. During this immersion trip into a small part of the Muslim world, we learned from a Muslim journalist, a local pastor, and a Christian scholar.

We sat in on an English conversational class where we could dialog with locals. We worshipped Jesus at New Life Church and Dr. Paul preached. We visited the Citadel in Amman, the baptism site of Jesus at the Jordan River, Mount Nebo, and the Dead Sea, all while enjoying some of the local favorite foods.
The Lord has not ceased to encourage me on every immersion trip we’ve taken. During this trip, the Lord encouraged me while I was standing on top of Mount Nebo and looking out at the promised land as Moses once did. Standing there, I could see the Dead Sea, Jericho, and the vegetation in the valley growing along the Jordan River.

The view made me reflect on God’s promises. Sometimes, God’s promises can seem so far off, too vast, and sometimes even impossible. Nonetheless, God makes promises and He is faithful in keeping those promises.
One promise God gave me for this Master’s program was that He would help me. I’m holding onto that promise as I finish my thesis and graduate this coming spring.

May He remind you of the promises He has fulfilled in your life, and help you continue to trust him for those yet to be fulfilled!

In Him,
