Community Life: Week ending Sept 3

MOVE SUNDAY — September 4

As we've announced over the past few weeks, our gatherings for Artisan Church will be moving to a new venue: The Japanese Hall! This Sunday (September 4), we’ll meet at 10:30am at the Rickshaw for worship. Part way through the gathering we'll move to the new space, walking through the neighbourhood, and then gathering together at the Japanese Hall for short prayers and a brief tour of the space.

START-UP SUNDAY — September 11

Sunday, September 11, will be our first full Sunday at the Japanese Hall. We’re looking forward to worshipping the Living God and starting a new season as a church in this space!

A note to parents: you and your child(ren), ages 1 to gr 5, are invited to come to the Japanese Hall at 10am on this Sunday for a special activity to help orient you to the new space and to check out their new classrooms! Please plan to be there!

We are looking for people to be involved in the following ways as we make this transition to a new space. Please contact Scott for more on how to get involved.

Jesus, Life & World Religions Conference with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries - Hosted at Westside Church, this two day conference, Sept 6 & 7, is an opportunity to ponder the foundations of belief. A welcome venue for inquirers, skeptics, and thinkers of all faiths, this event is designed to engage everyone in a more conscientious examination of what we hold to be true. More info here

Save Crab Park! - Crab Park, a valued community spot for the downtown eastside and for our church is under threat of major industrial expansion.  We encourage everyone to read more about this issue here and to sign the petition if you are willing.

Camping Supplies for Tent City - Bre McDaniel is gathering camping supplies for the tent city that homeless in our neighbourhood are living in to advocate for more housing. They had a great meeting with the Mayor recently, but still need a safe place to live in the meantime. If you would like to share something, email Bre for a list of supplies such as blow up mattresses, first aid kits and hygiene items, and drop off details.

Childcare Wanted - We are looking for one full day of care for our 1 year old daughter, starting the first week of September. Preferably in East Van or at our house near the PNE. Contact Hannah.

Seeking Accommodations - My roommate and I are looking for accommodations for September. We're looking for a suite or apartment (2 bedroom) for rent in Mount Pleasant, East Van or Hastings Sunrise. Dog friendly is definitely a big plus, but not a necessity. Our price cap is about $1600. We're both in our mid/late 20s. Contact Becky: 778.708.3939

Cloth Diaper Donations - The Walker family has been helping care for some young children in need and they are seeking donations of cloth diapers. If you have some to contribute, email Kathy.
