Cowes Classics Week Supports UKSA and Autism On The Water

The Royal London Yacht Club, organiser of Cowes Classics Week, has released details of the two charities it has chosen to support with its 2022 regatta.

The UKSA believes in harnessing the power of the sea to transform the lives of young people. As a national maritime youth charity and the largest RYA training centre in the world, the breadth of their courses and beneficiaries makes UKSA truly unique. Ben Willows, CEO of UKSA said “UKSA is honoured to have been chosen as one of Cowes Classic Week’s supporting charities. We inspire young people to broaden their horizons through our life-enhancing water-based adventures, education and training. We know that many children and young people are missing out on life-changing opportunities because schools, local authorities and parents simply can’t afford to pay for them. Through our continued commitment to the community and generous funding by our supporters, we’re proud to be able to offer a broad array of outdoor learning to them.”

Autism On The Water is fully committed to raising awareness of the autistic spectrum through the sport of sailing and helping people with autism to access sailing. “Autism on the Water is delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities supported by Cowes Classics Week. It really shows the incredible support that we are receiving during our time on the Solent. We’re coming with both our yachts from Scotland to promote our work on the Solent with the intent of in the future being registered within the area and providing opportunities to young people there. Being associated with the Royal London YC and Cowes Classics Week is therefore a wonderful honour and we are very grateful.” said Murray MacDonald, founder of the charity.
