Techniques for FIT

  • FIT isn't an excuse for your people to only do the activities they enjoy doing. It's a way for them to do the things they dislike doing, but in a way they will savor.
  • Inherent in FIT is the idea that ANY of your people can find new business and grow existing business. Some results will be better than others, but even the tiniest of inputs add up to big growth.
  • You're looking for consistency from your team. A single raindrop doesn't carve a rock, but drops applied consistently, over millions of years, can add up to a canyon.
  • Think of it like a best practice. However, instead of applying a blanket best practice to your business, you're looking to apply individual best practices to each and every member of your team.

Being Human - Planning for 2017

My best clients are into revisiting strategy and planning for 2017.

To bring speed to these meetings, we do an exercise that orients the leadership team using the following "where will next year's business come from?" framework.

(please enable images)

It's a simple view of next year's business, and we use it to illustrate a point. Big growth comes from small changes.

For instance, what would a 4% increase in qualified leads worked, a 5% increase in retention, a 4% increase in average sale size, and a 4% increase in # of transactions a year add up to?

Would you believe it could lead to a 15% increase in revenue and a doubling of profits?

(please enable images to see this worksheet)

Mess around with it yourself.

Then think about the little human sized changes your team can put in place to make it happen.

Then start thinking about why the humans on your team should bother trying. Why should they go through the effort? What's the purpose and how does it help them? How will it help the customers?

Good stuff.

Random Stuff

Is this helping?

This time I'm really asking the question, is this little newsletter helping you in any way?

If so, please tell me why in a short sentence or two.

If no, let me know what would make it better.

No promises that I will change anything, but who knows?

(And if you're interested, I was quoted in a US News and World Report article here.)
