EDUCATION UPDATES
I am sure it comes as no surprise that there is a "great divide" in Baton Rouge. It appears that Governor Jindal and Superintendent John White have differences of opinion that are fueled by some members of the state board of education. The latest report is there is going to be a meeting between the governor and John White--one that will determine if there is a "will" to proceed with an amiable resolution. Mr. Henry Derouselle is the recipient of the June, 2014 Employee of the Month award. He was nominated for his exemplary performance and work ethic by his immediate supervisor, Mr. Al Blanchard, Director of Operations and Human Capital. Mr. Derouselle currently serves the school district as the Supervisor of Operations. He has been an employee of the St. Martin Parish School System for approximately 14 years and is to be commended for his efforts in the Operations Department to make the St. Martin Parish School System a viable system.
Mrs. Nicole Angelle is the recipient of the May, 2014 Employee of the Month award. She was nominated for her exemplary performance and work ethic by her immediate supervisor, Mrs. Kara Meaux, Director of Federal Programs. She currently serves the school district as the Early Childhood/Home School Supervisor and was instrumental in securing an Act 3 Early Childhood Grant in the amount of $100,000. Her role is to assist early childcare providers within St. Martin Parish in a collaborative endeavor to improve student outcomes within all entities. She also provides support and assistance to Pre-K teachers within the district. She has been an employee of the St. Martin Parish School System for approximately 17 years and is to be commended for her efforts to make the St. Martin Parish School System a viable system.

Cecilia Primary, Principal
Suzanne Leboeuf
Mrs. LeBoeuf is married to Daniel LeBoeuf and has two children, Zachary and Zoie. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Pearl) Castille.
Recently, Mrs. Suzanne LeBoeuf was recommended for the position of principal at Cecilia Primary School. Mrs. LeBoeuf has been a staff member of Cecilia Primary for the last 26 years. She has served the school as a special education teacher and Special Services liaison. More recently, she served as an assistant principal ad an interim principal. The St. Martin Parish School System's educational family welcomes Mrs. LeBoeuf as she begins her tenure as principal of Cecilia Primary. We wish her continued success and best wishes as she fulfills her new role.

Breaux Bridge Primary, Principal
Lydia Capdepon
Mrs. Lydia Capdepon is married to Scott Capdepon and is the mother of Blyss, Dean, Nicholas, and Gabrielle Capdepon. She is the daughter of Richard Green and Emmaline Thibodeaux.
In June, Mrs. Lydia Capdepon was appointed as principal at Breaux Bridge Primary School. Mrs. Capdepon has been a staff member of Breaux Bridge Primary for the last 19 years. She also taught at Parks Primary, Cecilia Primary, and has teaching experience in Jefferson Parish. She brings a total of 24 years experience to her new role. She has also served Breaux Bridge Primary as a regular education teacher in an inclusion setting for 17 years and an assistant principal for 2 years at the school. The St. Martin Parish School System's educational family welcomes Mrs. Capdepon as she begins her tenure as principal of Breaux Bridge Primary. The Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) program is hosting a mock legislative session called Action Legislature on Saturday, August 9th in the House Chambers at the Louisiana State Capitol. Participation is open to all high school students. Registration will be held between 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M. in the rotunda (first floor) of the State Capitol. The program will begin at 9:00 A.M. and conclude at 3:00 P.M. Derek Brondum is the chairman of this event. Email Cindy Bishop at destiny362@aol.com,
