Happy Nowruz

Marking the beginning of the Iranian New Year, Nowruz is an ancient celebration of the rebirth of nature after the cold winter. Let's greet the spring together by opening our hearts to new beginnings filled with hope, love, and peace. Tirgan wishes you and your families a happy Nowruz and a prosperous 1392.

Mohsen Namjoo

We are thrilled to welcome Mohsen Namjoo to Tirgan 2013. Mohsen Namjoo is an Iranian artist, musician, songwriter, singer, and Setar (traditional Persian lute) player based in California. He is a visionary artist. His words and music are very emotional and speak to the souls of today’s youth, seamlessly blending the classical with the modern.

Ajam was formed in early 2010 in London. Their music has a strong base in the native music of Iran, and in many ways could be described as Iranian fusion music. In addition to the raw energy of tribal and ritual music that inspires their sound, elements of dance and movement are also incorporated into live shows.

Shirin Neshat

Shirin Neshat is an Iranian photographer, film director, and visual artist. Some of her earliest works include photographs such as the Unveiling (1993) and Women of Allah (1993–97) series, which explore notions of femininity in relation to Islamic fundamentalism and militancy in Iran. The work of Neshat addresses the social, political, and psychological dimensions of women's experiences in contemporary Islamic societies.
