Holt Micro-forest News

Welcome to the first edition of Holt Micro-Forest news. This weekly newsletter will keep you up to date on the progress that has been made and what is coming up in the journey to create a Micro-Forest and nature based playground in Holt for the local community to enjoy.

News

Crowdfunding drive: The crowd funding campaign to raise funds for the project was launched on 1 June with a goal to raise $20,000 to help kick off this project. To date the community has raised an impressive $16,365. You can still donate until 11.30 pm on 30 June and every dollar counts in helping the project to reach our initial goal and beyond. Remember it’s an “all or nothing” crowdfunding campaign, which means if we don’t reach our tipping point of $20,000 we won’t receive any of the pledges.

Our tipping point of $20,00 will cover the landscape and water harvesting design, earthworks and the planting of 1,500 native points. Raising $45,000 will enable us to incorporate our stretch goals of nature play, seating, signage and edible gardens.

If you would like to make a donation, please visit the crowd funding page at https://www.startsomegood.com/holtmicroforest.

Community information stalls: Stalls have been held at Holt Shops (11 June) and Kippax Fair (20 June), raising awareness about the project amongst the local community. The stalls were well attended and the concept has been enthusiastically received!

Upcoming Events

We will be holding a fundraising BBQ at Bunnings Belconnen on 11 July from 9.30 am -4.30 pm. While we have already lined up a number of volunteers to cook and hand out the sausages on the day, we can always use more! If you can help out, please send us an email at info@holtmicroforest.com or comment on the group's Facebook page.
