Web only: Oasis in the concrete jungle

Teachers and students at Connaught PS have cultivated a special place where everyone can learn, play, and grow

All abuzz

Speaking of gardening... as Kitchissippi residents flock to garden centres across the ward it's a good time to consider what flowers we choose to plant in our yard. Berit Erickson has given this a lot of thought, in fact, anyone is welcome to visit her "Corner Pollinator Garden" and learn a bit about why some plants are better than others.

The top item on our website this week

We know you love to learn about local businesses: who's new, who's gone, who's moved. Check out the June edition of our biz round up for new fashion, cycling stuff, sweet treats, and more.

Summer is coming

It may not feel very summery out there today, but it's on its way. Pinky promise. Don't miss our annual summer guide for expert tips and local sources for great gear. This year's topics: sun safety and must-have beach gear for families. (Don't miss the coupon for La Diperie in the printed edition! There's a great burger recipe in there too.)

Who Lives Here

This month's feature is "The House on the Hill" and was written by Dave Allston, our favourite local historian and Early Days columnist. This sweet family home is located on Byron Avenue. Find out what challenges and advantages there are to living on a hill! :) As always, there are extra photos on the web version of this article

Early Days = cover story!

Of course, no issue of KT would be complete without Dave Allston's Early Days column. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wellington Village we chose to put it on the cover. Read it to find out why we illustrated it with an image of a circus tent. There are some great archival photos on the web edition of this column.
