Lyn's tours push the boundaries of your everyday, and lead you on a personal adventure.

Setting off on an overseas adventure can be expensive and one of the last things on traveller’s minds is currency. When purchasing money ensure that you weigh up your options. Work out how many days you are away and set a budget for each day, some say take 20% cash and the remainder on a card.

Unless I am travelling to the Americas and Europe I prefer to take 50% cash in Aust$ rather than exchange money before I depart, as many banks do not have the currency you require. The remainder I put on a debit card, and take a credit card in case of emergency, or if I decide to purchase that big item that wasn’t on my list to buy. Most of all be mindful of the fees that cards bring, in some Asian countries you are only allowed to withdraw a certain amount, and if you need to withdraw 2 or 3 times in one day the fees can add up to quite a lot.

Once you have your money keep it safe, if you are travelling with a partner it is a good idea to split the money, and both have a card each. To keep my money safe I always wear a jacket with an inside pocket where I keep cash and 1 card, the remainder I carry in my 100% PacSafe handbag which I carry across my shoulder.

Don’t forget to pick up a sim card too!

Purchasing Travel Insurance is another nightmare chore, which needs to be addressed as soon as you book and pay a deposit on a trip. Read the policy before you pay, be aware of what you are covered for is relevant to your trip.
If you are going on holiday soon and need to purchase travel insurance an easy way to get a quote is to go to our webpage and link onto Aussietravelcover to receive a free online quote which includes a 15% discount.

Incredible India

In February I had the privilege of going on a 12-day FAM trip to Southern India. One of the many highlights of the trip was a visit to a Women’s Handicraft Skill Development Project in Cochin, which is registered and supported by the Government. It was established with the objectives of women empowerment though sustainable development.

To achieve its objective it started a training centre, where local women can come and learn how to weave, cut and sew textile to make uniforms for thousands of school children. The Project was created with the aim of helping the neediest and giving skills to poor and illiterate women. Thanks to years of hard work and dedication to their craft, the Kerala women have been able to provide the vocational skills necessary to become self-reliant.

Another highlight of my trip was spending a couple of nights on a Houseboat cruising the backwaters of Kerala. Don’t miss out on our confirmed February departure 13 day Southern India with Optional 10-day Rajasthan add on.

Portugal/Spain, Morocco and Egypt

In October I will be escorting a trip to Portugal/Spain, Morocco and Egypt. The past few years Egypt tourism has taken a dive, but now that the country is more settled tourists are beginning to return. Optimism rolled in, in the first half of this year, as international arrivals into the country saw a 51% spike. Last August the United Nations World Tourism Organisation report ranked Egypt’s tourism market as the second fastest growing in the world.

Egypt has so much to offer in the way of UNESCO world heritage sites, ancient history and culinary delights. Thinking of travelling to Egypt for your next holiday! Let me know I will be happy to design your itinerary.

Here at Lyn Taylor’s Adventure Travel we strive to provide you with a variety of interesting travel destinations for everyone.
