Julia L Page, veski ceoSince 2004, veski has supported a range of programs and activities to inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers. In the next few weeks, we will be announcing details of our new inspiring students (and teachers) program, including the three regional Victorian schools we will be working with over the next three years.

For the third consecutive year, veski innovation fellows and board members will host students and their teachers at the Graeme Clark Oration and Dinner on Monday, 29 April 2013. This is a very special event in Victoria’s science calendar and I encourage everyone to attend and hear from Mr Geoffrey Lamb from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on the topic of Global Health, Economic Growth and the End of Absolute Poverty.

Another exciting program we have launched is a new in conversation series where we speak to our veski innovation fellows about how they got started in science, what their labs look like today (and tomorrow) and their research.

Industry, academia and Harvard topics of conversations for 2013

Our next veski conversation will feature leading immunologist Professor Kai Wucherpfennig from Harvard Medical School. He will visit Victoria with the support of a veski award in science to discuss a student exchange pilot between WEHI and Harvard Medical School being driven by veski innovation fellow Dr Matthew Call.

veski conversations bring our innovation fellows together with leaders in government, business and academia to discuss a range of topics. Already this year we have held a veski conversation on industry and academic partnerships with Leonie Walsh from the Australasian Industrial Research Group.
