veski annual review

The veski annual review is now available on the veski website. It includes an update on our programs and initiatives from 2011/2012 including our prestigious fellowship program and our engaging veski conversations. It also provides an update on the research and activities of our 15 veski innovation fellows.

veski continued to help students and teachers attend a range of Victorian science lectures and events in 2012 including the ‘Hooked on Science’ lecture and the 2012 Graeme Clark Oration and Oration Dinner.

More than 130 delegates including eminent international and national clinicians and researchers attended the first Australian p53 workshop. The event was organised by veski innovation fellow Associate Professor Ygal Haupt with support from a veski award in science.

Professor John Denton was honoured with an ambassadorial veski fellowship after serving on the veski board for eight years. Associate Professor Ygal Haupt and Dr Ross Dickins have also been awarded ambassadorial veski fellowships following the official completion of their veski innovation fellowships.

In 2012, our inaugural veski innovation fellow Professor Andrew Holmes AM received a 2012 Royal Medal from the Royal Society while Dr Mark Shackleton received the Science Minister’s Prize for Life Scientist of the Year.

With additional funding from the Victorian Government, veski will increase the number of veski innovation fellowships, and deliver a new inspiring students and teachers program to lift the participation rate in science amongst students.
