Davidson Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week
The week of November 16-20, Davidson will host a variety of events and information sessions to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). The goal of GEW is for one week in November to inspire people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help people explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Join DavidsonIE and come out to some or all of the events and info sessions this week.

Student Spotlight: Isabel McLain'16

Meet Isabel McLain '16. She spent last summer at the Amani Institute in Kenya, an educational non-profit that trains social entrepreneurs and future leaders.  Isabel speaks fondly of her time at the institute, “every day that I was at work with the Amani Institute felt like a crash course in social entrepreneurship, self-marketing, and non-profit work." This semester she has been nominated as a finalist for the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship which provides the recipient with a grant of $30,000 to "enable college graduates of exceptional promise to engage in a year of independent study and travel abroad following graduation." This Thursday she will be co-hosting an info session about Innovation in Nairobi + Sao Paolo with the Amani Institute as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Read more about her experience on the DavidsonIE website.

Five Questions for an Entrepreneur: Tuesday 11/17 2-3 PM

Wondering what it takes to build a start-up? How a liberal arts education prepares you for today's job market? Join Davidson's Entrepreneurs-In-Residence Chris and Jon Boggiano for coffee and conversation from 2-3 PM at Summit Outpost on campus. 

Innovation and Entrepreneurship on Campus: Tuesday 11/17
Sprinkle Room, 4:30-6 PM
Hear several of your classmates' perspectives on DavidsonIE and learn why "liberal arts" and "entrepreneurship" could be considered synonyms, and how to make the most of your time at Davidson.

openIDEO Design Challenge: Wednesdays in the Student Union (ongoing)

Davidson students, faculty and staff are actively participating in a global design challenge through openIDEOParticipants are learning and applying design thinking methodology to the problem of college affordability. 

Meetups take place from 8-10 PM Wednesdays in Student Union 313. For more information check out this video.

Join Amy O'Keefe '94 to learn two new hands on prototyping methods for generating and refining your ideas for new products, services, and digital interactions.

Join Amy O'Keefe '94 to learn about the Design Innovation masters program she leads at Northwestern University as well as peer Integrated Design Innovation programs at University of Pennsylvania, MIT, Harvard, and Carnegie Mellon.

Davidson College Venture Lab (DC Venture Lab) is a start-up incubator designed to accelerate the development of Davidson's founders and aspiring entrepreneurs through experiential education. DC Venture Lab is a full-time, immersive, 10-week program suited for all business models (both for-profit and nonprofit). Learn more about DC Venture Lab here.
