Dearest Eaters-

A night out with the farmers! What could be better? Oh yeah...a night out with the hogs! Dan and I are excited to invite you into our wild lives to experience urban acreage & regenerative agriculture like you've never seen it before. Our solar-powered farmstead will be open to the public on Thursday, October 3rd, from 4:30 to 7 pm. Join us for a laid-back casual evening full of baby chicks, fatty hens, even fatter hogs, glorious vegetable fields, heritage orchards, native grasses & wildflowers, beehives, and BEER! We've painstakingly crafted this farm from scratch and we are RARELY open to the public due to our hectic schedule, but we are making it happen (someway somehow) and I'm excited to hang out with you guys!
Craft beer from Crane Brewery will be on the house. No tickets necessary. It's free! Just show-up, grab a farm map, and be ready to walk. You can tour yourself all over the farm. We'll be stationed over the hill and past the "hobbit home", hanging-out near the buxom hogs and the beer, ready to answer questions, show-off our farmer tans, and do jigs on demand. Just kidding. I don't dance (I just speed weed).
Our passive-solar earthberm home (built by Farmer Dan!!) will be open for walk-throughs. The home features many non-toxic/recycled/reclaimed materials and a composting toilet that looks like a spaceship! We fought the city loooong and hard to get our alternative infrastructure permitted. It was no easy task. The solar-powered home and farm are complete with an off-grid water system and a grey & black water recycling system. We are happy to talk shop with green building nerds and show-off our sustainable crib! You can learn more about our green home here
Please note: this is a ZERO WASTE event. BRING A REUSABLE CUP and a lawn chair or picnic blanket. We'll relax, sip libations, and watch the sunset as the beautiful buxom hogs prance about the fields!
In other news: HEIRLOOM TOMATO SALE!!! Well folks, they just won't stop and we'll be toting the MOTHERLOAD to this Saturday's Brookside Farmers Market. Savor summer before it's gone.
10% Off Heirloom Tomatoes
@ this Saturday's Brookside Farmers Market
We'll have 7 mouthwatering heirloom varieties carefully selected for flavor & integrity. Our featured varieties this week are Aunt Ruby's German Green & Dr. Wyches Yellow:
The German Green is my absolute favorite. It's got rich, meaty flesh with sensational tomato sweetness and a spicy aftertaste. So good! Dr. Wyches Yellow is a customer favorite. It flies off the table! It's low-acid with sweet, thick-walled flesh that tastes like sunshine. Stellar! These luscious maters have been keeping me in tomato salad heaven. Seriously, this is what I eat for lunch everyday (and I don't share)...
On that note (the not sharing salad note), I've got a couple new tomato salad recipes that I guarantee you won't want to share. I haven't had any fresh mozzarella on hand, which inspired me to seek out sensational fixings with feta. This one is to die for:
and this one...
Alright, now SLEEP. Yes, we do that sometimes. When we aren't picking these:
Yours Truly,

Farmer Brooke & The URBAVORE Crew

P.S. We'll have the very last of our famous muskmelons on Saturday. Quantities are limited so get those booties out of bed!!
