Hands down, there is no better pork in Kansas City. Which leads me to believe, there are no other animals loved and celebrated quite like the URBAVORE hog.
When it comes to good food:
LOVE IS THE KEY.
It's been a very emotional time on the farm as Dan and I prepare for the hog harvest. We do everything we can to make it a smooth, stress-free transition for our beloved animals. And yet, I myself am feeling a real sense of stress and loss. This isn't easy on me!
Ethical, humane meat production is not without heartache. That's the point. There IS an emotional connection between farmer and beast and eater. Without that, you've got factory farms, unhealthy & unhappy animals, and a society of unhealthy complacent humans.
It would be a whole heck of a lot easier to turn the other cheek, ya know...to not get emotional or attached and instead treat my animals like a commodity. HECK NO! They are not a commodity. They are thinking, breathing creatures with an intelligent, inquisitive, and even playful nature. They are simply delightful! I choose to love them and give them the best life possible, and thus my heart aches (as it should).
It is truly an AWESOME privilege to love and nurture these animals, and it is truly an awesome privilege for you, the eater, to consume them. Don't take it lightly. Savor every bite. Relish in nourishment & gratitude.
And without further ado, I present to you the 2019 PORK MENU below. I've spent the last two weeks fine-tuning our cut sheets, researching recipes, and meticulously preparing instructions for the processor. Artisan meat comes with endless care and attention to detail both in the field and in the fabrication. Products available starting Nov. 23rd at the Brookside Farmers' Market (just in time for Thanksgiving!!) or by pre-order to be picked up on the farm at your convenience.

Our hogs are raised on pasture with the utmost love and compassion. They eat certified organic grain and nutrient-dense cover crops like peas, oats, and rye as they rotate through the fields of our 13 acre urban farmstead. No antibiotics, hormones, or chemical dewormers. Just soil & sunshine!
Meat is available Saturdays at the Brookside Farmers' Market.
