COMMUNITY

Please take a picture and use the tags #lovelivelocal #homegrown.
We're looking forward to supporting our local businesses in SWLA!
In 1970 the Junior League of Lake Charles established the Family & Youth Counseling Agency, whose mission is to provide affordable and professional support through programs and services dedicated to advocacy, counseling, and education for the people in Southwest Louisiana. In 1999 the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a project of the League, became one of the divisions of Family & Youth. CASA's mission is to advocate for children a part of the foster care system. The mission of CASA is for children in foster care to be placed in a safe and loving home. The impact these legacy programs have made on our community has been profound. Last month, we presented a $10,000.00 donation to our Legacy program CASA, A Division of Family & Youth. The Junior League of Lake Charles will continue to strive to improve our community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Branch Out and Grow Program
|
|
The Branch Out and Grow Program was established during the 2008-2009 year when the JLLC awarded over $23,000 in grants to SWLA educators. The program evolved the next year to include volunteer hours in addition to grant dollars. Scholarships for graduating high school women were added in 2012. Each year a different amount and quantity of scholarships and grants were given, but over the last 10 years the JLLC has awarded more than $177,000 in grants and scholarships to educators, students, and nonprofit organizations in the five parish area.
