  Summer Update
We are currently interviewing artists for our Summer session and hope to announce our full line-up of summer camps by the end of March. In the mean time, please head to our preview page to get a glimpse of our summer schedule and sign-up for early registration before we announce to the general public.

  Boost our Views

Over the years, social media algorithms and even our inboxes have changed. We are bombarded with more and more paid advertising, rather than the posts we actually want to see from the places and people we care about. We need your help to increase our organic reach so we don't need to spend precious dollars on advertising.

We’re looking for a kaleidoscope of social butterflies to help us broadcast our info to their networks. (That's what a group of butterflies is actually called - a kaleidoscope - how cool is that!?) Volunteer to be a Social Butterfly and use these helpful hints and tips to expand our reach!

ICYMI last month: We've made a few changes at the studio to better serve you. Check out all the 2020 newness below!

 *New* Studio Hosts

In January, the newest Creative Community Apprenticeship cohort began. These new apprentices have been learning the ropes and are bringing a lot of new interests and ideas to the table. Stop in soon to meet our newest apprentices:

Michelle: Michelle is our anchor, serving at the studio Wed-Sun to help you have the best experience possible. She comes to us with previous experience as the Art Club facilitator at a local teen center. She's a big fan of photography!

Celeste: Celeste is currently a junior at Roosevelt High School. She loves drawing and handlettering - and has been creating all kinds of new signs at the studio. She's also teaching us a thing or two about Instagram - so make sure to follow us!

Jordan: Jordan says that drawing is his happy place and he is really into digital design. In addition to working at heARTS, he can also be found at Juxtaposition Arts on the Northside. Fun fact: one of his pieces was recently displayed at Orchestra Hall!

 *New* Age Expansion

Knowing how few multi-generational spaces exist these days, we've decided to open our doors more widely. Open Studio hours are now all-ages, all the time!* This means the same guidelines on weekends apply on Thursday and Friday afternoons from 4-6:30pm:
  • youth under age 10 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver over age 16
  • ages 10-17 can attend unaccompanied as long as we have a permission form on file
*We'll maintain our exclusive Art After Dark hours for teens on Wednesdays from 6-8:30p and adults on Thursdays from 6:30-9p.

 *New* Referral Program

Word-of-mouth is by far the best way to reach our people, so we've developed a new referral program.

How does it work?
Easy! For every five (new) people you refer - you'll earn a free Open Studio visit. We'll start a referral card for you at the studio and to earn a punch, just tell people to mention your name during their first visit. We'll send you an email when you've reached five new guests.

How do I participate?
The referral program is for studio participants only (though we truly love all our supporters who spread the word!) To sign-up, reply to this email to let us know you want to participate and we'll start a card for you at the studio.

 *New* Pricing Options

Memberships: We've added a new unlimited Open Studio youth membership for the summer months (June-August) and a 3-month unlimited membership for adults. Both memberships come with discounts on Creative Labs.

Premium Supplies Punchcard: Rather than limiting access to more premium materials, you can now purchase a punch card for $20 to help us cover the replacement costs for these items! Fees for single use items (like canvases) will cover the cost of replacement, while shared supplies (like high quality markers or inks) will have a fractional cost. This is a great option for folks who want to explore different mediums before investing in the products themselves.
