When is comes to safety, there is no question that schools must prepare for worst-case scenarios, including the possibility of an armed intruder. However, the heated and polarizing current public debate about what constitutes an appropriate response to school shootings has made it challenging for schools to undertake a comprehensive examination of how to fashion truly safe and resilient communities that can withstand a variety of crises.

Building a Haiti partnership takes time, patience, good will, and a willingness to take some chances and make mistakes. Thankfully, we don’t need to feel along blindly.
