Lake County Recreation Newsletter

May 11, 2015

Calling all students currently in grades 3-6, there are still openings in the summer 2015 Rockies Rock Program! In this free 6 week summer program students will work on an environmental issue (either: animal habitats, fish population decreases, effects of mining or the watershed) that is determined by their grade level. Each group will play games, do research, conduct experiments and enjoy field trips all while learning about their unique issue. For more information or to enroll please contact Susan Fishman at 719-293-0115.

Don't forget starting tonight is Water Safety Week! Please join the Recreation Department staff at the Lake County Aquatic Center for this fun program.  Parents and children of all ages will learn about different water safety skills and rules to be ready for the summer water season.  Mondays class topics include Think So You Don't Sink, Swim As A Pair Near A Lifeguard Chair and Think Twice Before You Go Near Cold Water Or Ice. The program will run May 11th-14th, Monday to Thursday, from 6-7pm. Participants who attend ALL four nights, will receive a free five visit pass to the Aquatic Center.

Last but not least this Friday is Youth Open Gym for grades 6-12. This months program will be held at the Aquatic Center in partnership with a Dive In Movie. The movie being shown is The Avengers and admission is just $2 per participant, tubes are available for an additional $4 each. Questions? Please contact Sarah at 719-427-7892.
