The EIP offers specialized programs with expertise in the early identification, evaluation, and comprehensive psychiatric treatment of adolescents and young adults with psychotic disorders, and uses an integrated approach to address the health and mental health needs of young adults, including providing support for co-occurring substance use disorders, and metabolic and other co-occurring medical conditions.

Announcing Our Newly Designed Newsletter!

The EIP team is happy to provide you with its first newsletter for 2015! Our monthly newsletter is designed to provide school mental health personnel and administrators, behavioral and primary health care providers, community members, stakeholders, consumers and family members important information and updates on activities related to the EIP.
 

EIP Updates

Outreach and Education
  • Training school personnel on screening tools
  • Coordinating and preparing for filming of additional professional and family-focused presentations so to expand the online EIP Training Course, www.mdbehavioralhealth.com
  • Met with the EIP Workgroup to discuss potential outreach and education strategies

Clinical Treatment and Consultation
  • The Clinical High Risk team announces the name of their new clinic: STRIVE for Wellness
  • Providing direct treatment to over 120 clients experiencing a mental illness with psychosis, and provided consultations to over 75 providers to date
  • Began providing telepsychiatry services in four schools and two rural pediatric primary care sites
  • Training community behavioral health providers on screening/assessment measures

 Early Intervention Teams (EITs)
  • Provided orientation and overview of the EIT program to originating site: Family Services, Inc. (FSI)
  • Selected and continued contract negotiations with a second site:  The Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic (EPIC) at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center
  • Continue to collect tools and fact sheets for dissemination to interested clinics. These will include on-line resources that can help clinics decide whether establishing a team is right for them
  • Continue to draft strategies to provide general training in care for early psychosis statewide. Ideas include webinars and in-person workshops
