Principal's Message

Dear EGRMS Families,

The PTO is looking for volunteers to help with the 6th and 7th grade Field Days.  If you are able to help, please visit the sign-up genius here to sign-up for a slot.  Thank you for your help in making this day a success.  The Field Day schedule is as follows:

  • 6th grade:  June 4th, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • 7th grade:  June 5th, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Congratulations to the Spring Drama Club on two excellent performances last Thursday and Friday and to all of our music classes as they perform their end-of-the-year concerts.  We are blessed to have strong community support for the arts and I deeply appreciate our dedicated faculty who have made a difference on behalf of our students.

If you’ve been meaning to make a pledge to Now&Forever but waiting for the right time, now is that time. We’re trying to wrap up the cash portion of the campaign by May 31, and that’s less than two weeks away!

Thanks to our donors, we continue to help make East Grand Rapids one of the best public school districts in the state, offering the extraordinary education our families expect and our students deserve.

Now&Forever will preserve that tradition of excellence for generations to come. Our community has already pledged more than $5.7 million to the campaign, leaving us only $700,000 from achieving our goal. More than 600 families have already made their pledges, but now, with only two weeks left in May, we need people who haven’t yet donated to make a commitment to keeping East Grand Rapids at the forefront of public education.

Be part of this historic effort. Be a Pioneer. Make your pledge at our
Now&Forever donation page or call us at (616)235-3535. Our goal is in sight and you can be the one to help us get to the the finish line!

Students are issued “Way to Go” cards for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility or Personal Best by doing the right thing!  As students receive these cards, they are placed in the container located in the Main Office.  Every Friday, names are drawn and announced during the afternoon announcements.  Each student selected, has the opportunity to pick a prize from the prize basket simply as a way to say “Thanks, we appreciate and recognize you!”

The next drawing will be on Friday, May 24th.

East Grand Rapids Athletics ~ Sports Physicals
The Athletic Department will be hosting sports physical examinations on Thursday, May 30 at the high school.  We would encourage all student athletes to attend.  The MHSAA and EGRHS require that any student participating on any sports team (club or school sponsored) must have a physical on file dated after April 14, 2019 to be eligible.  There are no exceptions to this MHSAA regulation.  The cost of the physical is $25.00.  Please view the flyer here
