Dear Wealthy Elementary Families,
I hope you all enjoyed the long, Labor Day weekend! It certainly feels like fall is in the air, although I am not quite ready to say “goodbye” to the summer temperatures. Last week was a busy but wonderful time for connecting with students and families. It was nice to see so many of our school community members at the PTO Back to School Picnic on Tuesday evening. Friday, during lunch, Mr. Wallace, the School Liaison Officer and I visited students in the lunchroom while some of our high school football players spent time playing with students on the playground. I appreciate how this community comes together, across buildings and organizations, in order to support our students.
Morning Door Procedure
Each morning teachers will be picking classes and grade levels up at the K-2 or 3-5 doors. Please note that these doors are unlocked from 8:15-8:20 AM for student entry only. Teachers will be leading the students up to their classrooms and are not able to hold the door for students who arrive late. Anyone arriving after 8:20 AM must check in at the main office. This ensures that all students are safely accounted for and that teachers are present in the hallways with their students each morning. Thank you for ensuring your child arrives in a timely manner each day.
Parent Information Nights
We hope to see you at our upcoming Parent Information Nights this week Wednesday and Thursday. Please check our calendar for exact dates and times. Teachers will share detailed information about curriculum, procedures, field trips, and other relevant material. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about Wealthy Elementary!
Please note that this coming Friday, Geskus will be here to take Yearbook Pictures. The make-up or retake day will be on October 4. All ordering for school pictures is completed online. Please let Mrs. Allchin or Mrs. Carnevale know if you need any assistance with this.
Wealthy Elementary Principal
I am new to Wealthy but not to East Grand Rapids Public Schools. I spent the last 15 years at the middle school and am so excited to be part of the Wealthy staff this year. My husband Matt teaches at the middle school, my son Jake is a senior, Maddie is a freshman, and Zac is a seventh grader. We have two Springer Spaniels, Kabookie (3 years) and our new puppy Louie! We love to camp, watch football, baseball, swimming. and water polo! Our family cheers for Notre Dame, MSU and the Redwings! My favorite treat is chocolate covered peanuts and tortilla chips! I can’t wait to be part of the Wizard Family!
