Note from Dr. Cannon

March 18, 2019

Dear Breton Downs Families,

Last week’s production of Madagascar, Jr. was wonderful and I was so impressed with our students. They memorized lines, learned songs and dance steps, and should be very proud of their participation and effort.  Mrs. Timmer and the many parent volunteers worked countless hours to prepare for the two performances. Many thanks to everyone for their efforts. Please see the picture below of Madagascar, Jr.

We have many lost and found items.  Please stop by the tables located outside the main office to see the gloves, sweatshirts, coats, and water bottles that need to be found.  We also have the lost and found items from Madagascar, Jr. Items that are not claimed by Thursday, March 28 will be donated.

This time of year EGRPS starts planning for high school graduation and enrolling next year’s kindergarten class of 2032.  Both journeys involve students and parents embracing the next phase of their children’s lives. In East Grand Rapids we hold a kindergarten presentation in May that highlights our curriculum, the school day, and special events.  This gives our new families an opportunity to learn about our district and the educational journey their student will start. If you have an incoming kindergarten student or know of a family with a kindergarten student, please have them enroll here.  We look forward to the class of 2032 and wish the class of 2019 much success!

Please remember to park in designated parking spaces on school property. Vehicles may not be parked in fire lanes during the school day or while attending events when school is not in session. The fire lanes must be accessible at all times.

Additional events in March
  • Today, Monday, March 18 our 4th and 5th grade choir will be featured in the Melodies in March concert at Wealthy’s Pioneer Auditorium.

Warmest regards,

Caroline

Illness Prevention

We are hopeful that winter is coming to an end, but with all the changes in weather, we want to remind parents of best practices regarding illness. A child must be fever-free without the aid of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school. Throughout the day, staff encourage students to wash their hands. These measures help to prevent the spread of illness in our schools. Thank you for your support.

Parking Lot Reminder

As a reminder, parking lot B is not to be used as a pick up or drop off spot.  Cars should not be pulling into the parking lot to wait for students. With safety being our top priority, please remind your children to walk on the sidewalks and to not cut through the lot.  We appreciate your help with this matter.
