Principal's Message

Dear EGRMS Families,

The next two weeks are busy and exciting as we conclude the school year.  Student Council speeches and elections are this Friday morning, followed by our annual Variety Show during the afternoon.  Both events foster opportunities for students to serve, share their talents, and involve students stretching themselves through a public performance.  We wish all of our students the very best in these endeavors.
In addition to Final Exams next week, the following special activities are scheduled for each grade:
6th Grade: on Tuesday, June 4 - Field Day Activities, Rocket Launches, Yearbook Distribution
7th Grade: on Wednesday, June 5 - Field Day Activities & Yearbook distribution
8th Grade: on Thursday, June 6 - Promotion Assembly and Reception starting at 9:00 a.m.
Sixth and Seventh grade students should dress for outdoor fun for their respective field day activities, especially shoes that protect their feet and allow running, and clothing that might get dirty or grass stained.  Eighth grade students should dress in clothes fitting for a more formal occasion, allowing them to feel comfortable when individually recognized by name during the Promotion Assembly.  While no exact dress code exists, something a “step-up” from standard school attire is recommended.  This nicer attire also supports great “photo moments” in the brief reception that follows the program.
I am grateful for all the support the community has shown our school this year.  Without the support of the community, East simply wouldn't be East.

Can you solve this puzzle?

If you can, you might be able to help the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation reach an important milestone. In the last two years, thanks to more than 600 families, Now&Forever has raised more than $5.7 million to benefit our students and our schools. We have less than $700,000 to go to meet our goal of $6.4 million in cash pledges! We’re trying to wrap up the campaign this week (that might help you solve the puzzle). If you’ve already made your pledge, you have our heartfelt appreciation. But if you haven’t yet given, please make your pledge now at! Thank you, as always, for your support.

Students are issued “Way to Go” cards for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility or Personal Best by doing the right thing!  As students receive these cards, they are placed in the container located in the Main Office.  Every Friday, names are drawn and announced during the afternoon announcements.  Each student selected, has the opportunity to pick a prize from the prize basket simply as a way to say “Thanks, we appreciate and recognize you!”

This week's winners are:

Addy Sorota
Judah Fields
Graham Carlson

East Grand Rapids Athletics ~ Sports Physicals
The Athletic Department will be hosting sports physical examinations on Thursday, May 30 at the high school.  We would encourage all student athletes to attend.  The MHSAA and EGRHS require that any student participating on any sports team (club or school sponsored) must have a physical on file dated after April 14, 2019 to be eligible.  There are no exceptions to this MHSAA regulation.  The cost of the physical is $25.00.  Please view the flyer

KCTC Summer Camp
KCTC offers a summer camp program for grades 7, 8, and 9.  The program is a career-themed camp were students can explore various programs available at KCTC.  It's hands-on fun with the technology and equipment the professionals use in their trades.  Some of the most popular camps include Young Chefs, Criminal Justice, and the STEM Program.  For more information, click
