Principal's Message

Dear Lakeside Elementary Families,

Last week was a wonderfully busy week at Lakeside! The musical came to a close with four amazing performances of Moana Jr. Things kicked off with a special parent performance/dress rehearsal on Wednesday. Then, Lakeside students and staff enjoyed a school performance on Friday before the two community performances Friday and Saturday. Thank you to the cast and crew members, as well as the many parents, whose hard work made this production a huge success. Please enjoy the photos below of Moana Jr.

Lakeside Students Are Principals for the Day
Last Friday I turned over the reins over to two Lakeside Elementary students, Andrew and Claire Tomasik, so that they could be acting Principals for the Day. This event, awarded through the PTO ROAR fundraiser back in September, was a fun day for these students filled with student-led announcements, read alouds, assisting in classrooms, and leading the student body in a walk over to Wealthy Elementary for the school musical performance. Thank you to the Tomasik family for allowing me this fun opportunity. It always bring me joy to see students shine in this leadership role!

Change to Hot Lunch Ordering
Starting Monday, April 11, 2022, online lunch orders will no longer be required for students in grades K-8. Elementary classes have returned to the routine of taking morning lunch counts directly from students and middle school lunch operations are now able to adjust to varying daily demand without food supply issues. High School lunch orders must still occur online for the remainder of the year as these meals are produced at the middle school and delivered daily to the high school.  All meals remain free for the remainder of this school year.

March is Reading Month Continues
We are having a great month celebrating reading! Students and staff are enjoying our participation in March Book Madness. Thank you to the PTO for providing us the opportunity to enjoy these picture books so that students can vote on their favorite titles. This week I look forward to continuing as a guest reader in some classrooms and seeing students dress up as their favorite book character on Friday.

 Important Calendar Dates

  • Friday, March 25:  Dress Like Your Favorite Book Character Day

  • April 1-8:  Spring Break; No school for students K-12

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Warm Regards,
