current hours: 4:00-6:00 pm

Strawberry season is here!

If those frosty mornings last week had you worried about this year's berry crop, fear not!  Your farmers have done well, and the strawberries are thriving!  You'll find lots and lots of delicious red gems this week from Eco Farm and T5 Farms, certified organic strawberries from Honey Bee Hills Farm, plus mini strawberry pies from Gramma D's, and you can pre-order a fabulous strawberry cake from Sweet Little Something!  Don't be afraid to buy a few extra cartons to stock your freezer; you know you'll miss strawberry season as soon as it's over!

We are also pleased to welcome Gary Thomas Farms back this week, bringing the first tastes of summer from their greenhouses!

See you Tuesday,
Kristen

Perry-winkle Farm

Looks like we need to bring even more arugula to market this week; once again we ran out last week and we hate to disappoint our customers.  We are starting to harvest our head lettuce, look for a basket full of both red and green frilly heads and a few Bostons.  We will also have more of our green garlic stalks and a bucket of mint bunches.

We are quickly shifting our attention to our flower fields. Each day we are seeing more and more varieties maturing.  These new flowers will greatly enhance our two sizes of mixed bouquets. We will have more of our Dutch Irises, and there will be bunches of Bachelor Buttons and bunches of our long lasting Sweet Williams.

There will be lots of eggs from Michael's free-ranging hens.  Our youngest hens (the pullets) have been moved to a field of clover and vetch.  Be sure to pick up a dozen and see how they convert these crops into orange yolks.  Check out our Instagram for more pictures of these hens.

Hello everyone,

I'll have artichoke fennel quiche this week, more Vidalia and mushroom gruyere, and a cauliflower gratin.

I'll bring a chocolate dessert, little almond cakes perfect to serve with whipped creme fraiche and fresh local strawberries. I'll make your favorite vanilla shortbread cookies because you've been asking so nicely! And I'll have plenty of fresh fruit tarts and apple turnovers if you pre-order.

And finally, the mother's day strawberry cake is up on the site for pre-orders. It is so incredibly fresh and different. It combines a moist pistachio genoise, a strawberry lime jelly, a creamy strawberry puree made with strawberry chocolate (yes, there is such a thing, and it's amazing!) and a buttery hazelnut shortcrust. It is topped with whipped Chantilly cream and fresh local berries.

That's the news for today,
Looking forward to your friendly faces,
A.
