Fearrington Farmers' Market
every Tuesday, rain or shine
current hours: 3:00-5:00 pm

Thanksgiving is only a week away!

With all that's going on in the world right now, we know Thanksgiving gatherings are going to look a little strange this year.  But whether you're planning a [small, covid-safe, possibly outdoor] get-together, or just planning to enjoy a slice of pumpkin pie while chatting over Zoom, we hope you're able to carve out some family time this year.  And of course, we hope your holiday meals will be loaded with delicious local food!

We have a full slate of vendors attending this week, and many are taking special orders for the holidays.  As a reminder, the market will continue to operate every Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00pm through the winter, including next week.

See you Tuesday!
Kristen

Perry-winkle Farm

We missed seeing everyone last week and we are ready to bring lots of fall goodies to market this week.  We will have bunches of collard greens, 4 different varieties of kale, baby bok choy, and lots of heads of cabbage.  We will have bags of arugula and a Japanese variety of sweet potatoes called Murasaki.  This purplish/red skinned sweet potato has a white flesh with a sweet nutty flavor.  We will have more sweet and spicy peppers as well.

We were able to protect a few of our flower beds from the frost so we will have bunches of marigolds and a bucket of glads.

with gratitude,

Sweet Little Something  |  link for online orders

Hello friends,

I'm planning on bringing mini pies to the market this week to give you a chance to try them before you order for Thanksgiving. I will be offering two different kinds. The first one is a cranberry curd and vanilla pie inspired by a NYT recipe from a few years back. It offers a cookie-like crust and a mellow vanilla mousse topped with the brightest curd. It's even good half-frozen if you'd like to pretend you're having ice cream cake!

The second is an Alsacian apple pie that's different from the traditional American dessert but will seduce you at first bite. It's creamy, flavored with a little Calvados, and really not too sweet.

I've added a couple of desserts to the site and I'm trying to get some of the holiday cookies ready to bring this week. Won't make promises, but I'm trying :)

Anyways, you know how it works, head over to the site to place your order.

See you all on Tuesday!
Looking forward to your friendly faces,
A.

T5-Farms will be at market this week with collards, head lettuce, beets, beef, chicken (whole birds), pork (hopefully -- waiting to hear from processor), loads of peppers (Carmen, cornito, Shishito, jalapeño, cubanelle, sweet red and yellow Italian, green and purple bell, banana, garden salsa), eggs, and sweet potatoes (white O’Henry, orange Beauregard, purple skin Japanese).

Please text special orders to Randy Thompson at 336-264-0981 by 10:00 am on Tuesday.

Turtle Rock Gardens will be at market this week with dried flower wreaths.  I will also have a few foraged evergreen greenery wreaths.  Stop by and check them out!

Twelve Oaks Farm will be there with pickled beets, pickled okra, and pickled peppers.

Ben and Patricia of In Good Heart Farm are new this year, and since we're all being responsible and wearing masks, you may not have ever seen their faces!  So, here's a smiling selfie :)
'Tis the season for beets, carrots, and other sweet root crops!  (Okay, okay, kohlrabi is not technically a root.)  These beauties are from Red Roots Farm.
