Want to take action?!
Hi there, Herpes Advocates. We're happy that you're here.
Today’s Advocacy Prompt: Email HIV/AIDS Lead at the CDC
Dr. Demetre Daskalakis
CDC’s Director of the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention
SPEAK UP! USE YOUR VOICE!
Examples of what to say:
I'm a patient advocate with Herpes Cure Advocacy. Did you know HSV is a widely recognized driver of the HIV/AIDS epidemic? We need new HSV testing that works (FDA approved tests are only 50% accurate.) We need better and more effective treatments, a vaccine and cure. 40% of new HIV cases are attributed to HSV-2. HSV is not benign and is a neurological condition that is being studied as a contributing factor to cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s.
HSV also, like many health disparities, disproportionately impacts women and minorities.
SPECIFIC ASK: Ask Dr. Demetre Daskalakis to contact the team at Herpes Cure Advocacy and to prioritize HSV prevention at the CDC urgently.
