I'm a patient advocate with Herpes Cure Advocacy. Did you know HSV is a widely recognized driver of the HIV/AIDS epidemic? We need new HSV testing that works (FDA approved tests are only 50% accurate.) We need better and more effective treatments, a vaccine and cure. 40% of new HIV cases are attributed to HSV-2. HSV is not benign and is a neurological condition that is being studied as a contributing factor to cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s.
HSV also, like many health disparities, disproportionately impacts women and minorities.
SPECIFIC ASK: Ask Dr. Demetre Daskalakis to contact the team at Herpes Cure Advocacy and to prioritize HSV prevention at the CDC urgently.
