Dear Parents and Learners

Welcome to 2019 and the new academic year at Rustenburg.  A special welcome to new learners and parents who have joined us this year across all grades.

It is with pride that we can announce that Rustenburg Girls’ High School received the Western Cape Education Department certificate for Academic Excellence, and we were the top public school in this category. Well done to every one of our 2018 matrics and each member of staff who played a role in this achievement.

We welcome some new members of staff to our team in 2019 and wish them all the best in their new positions:

Mr Baartzes has taken over as the Head of the French Department.  Mr Ndambi is the second French teacher and Ms Boshoff joins the English Department.

Mrs Steenekamp has moved back into the Consumer Studies Department as the Head of Subject.  Ms Voskuil and Ms Gideon are teaching in the Economic Management Sciences, Accounting, Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation departments.  Ms Damon has a learnership role in the Mathematics Department.

We have also appointed two new administrative staff members in the front office.  Ms Corbello is taking on the role of Admissions Secretary and is joined by Ms Ebrahim, who is our new receptionist. Mr van der Westhuizen has a temporary contract to assist the ICT department.

Please do make every effort to attend the Parents’ Evenings this term, as this is the opportunity for you to hear information and exciting developments in your daughter’s grade.  In addition, it is a lovely opportunity for you to connect with fellow parents in the year group as we strive for this to be a school where all belong.

To help reduce the handling of cash at the school we have subscribed to Karri (powered by Nedbank), which allows for easy and quick payments to the school.  If you are happy to be a part of this programme then please sign up by completing this short survey and signing up with Karri on your smart phone or computer.  Other payment options include SnapScan and EFT.  Along with cash options, SnapScan is also available to use at both the tuckshop and the uniform shop.

May 2019 be a wonderful year for you and your family; a year filled with happiness and exciting opportunities.
