Dear RGHS Parents and Learners

Matric examinations are in full swing and I’m sure you will join me in wishing each of them the very best.

What a blessing it has been to have the water restrictions lightened a bit. It is so good to see our learners back in their uniforms, sharing in school cohesion.

I’d like to remind you of the Code of Respect that was sent out at the end of last term. A copy is below this message. I encourage you to read this and have a conversation with you daughter(s) on how this could be put into practice during her day at school, in the classroom, at break time or on the sports field.

Calling all Architects: The governing body is keen to explore some further facility development at the school over the next few years. To this end, I would like to invite any parent who is an architect and would be willing to help shape the vision to a short meeting. Here we will explain the pressing needs of the school with the hope that you might be interested in advising us or even assisting with facilitating the project. This meeting will take place in the Principal’s office at 17:30 on 1 November 2018. Please RSVP to Mrs Weston at, by 31 October 2018.

Please visit our website for 3 new school videos that have recently been filmed. A big thank you to Mrs René Forbes and everyone involved in making this possible.

Code of Respect at Rustenburg Girls’ High School

We strive to:

  • greet and acknowledge one another each day.
  • be appreciative and respectful.
  • address incivility immediately.
  • listen with the goal of hearing another’s point of view and not interrupting one another or using belittling words.
  • be courteous in word and deed.
  • accept ownership of mistakes and learn from the experience.
  • show up and do what we say we will do.
  • be punctual.
  • encourage creativity and authenticity.
  • dress neatly and appropriately.
  • express gratitude to others.
  • form opinions carefully and be willing to change our minds.
  • not gossip but rather follow this process:
    1. If you have a problem with me, come to me (privately).
    2. If I have a problem with you, I'll come to you (privately).
    3. If someone has a problem with me and comes to you, send them to me (I'll do the same for you).

Let’s all be courteous, and as a result operate in a friendlier and productive school, encouraging behaviour which unites and encourages camaraderie rather than is divisive.

Learner Exchange with Alexander Sinton

On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th October two Rustenburg learners had the opportunity to spend a day at Alexander Sinton High School in Athlone, and to subsequently host three Alexander Sinton students at Rustenburg. The purpose of the exchange, organised by Mr Van Dyk and Mrs Robinson, was to reinforce our learners’ understanding of the educational legacy of apartheid which they have been studying in Grade 9 history.
