LEARNERS NOT RETURNING IN 2020

At the end of this term we will be sorting through our applications for Grades 9 to 11 and finalising our acceptances for next year. 
 
In order to assess whether we have any places to offer to these applicants, we kindly request that you inform us, in writing by the end of this term, if your daughter will not be returning to Rustenburg next year.
 
Please remember that you need to give the required term’s notice or you will be liable for a full term’s fees.

News

Protest against gender-based violence

On Wednesday 4 September Rustenburg students, staff and some parents protested in front of the school against gender-based violence in response to what happened to Uyinene Mrwetyana and many other women recently. We stand together as a school, a sisterhood, to show support and love and that enough is enough.
Rondebosch Boys’ High invited the Rustenburg RCL and any other students who where able to join them, so they could hand over a tribute board showing their support. On Friday 6 September the Rustenburg Debating Society will be hosting a positive discussion on End Womxn Abuse.

GIS Olympiad

Congratulations to Grade 11 Geography students: Maryam Badsha, Amani Hoosen and Catalina Althoff Thomson, who represented Rustenburg at the GIS (Geographic Information System) Olympiad at CPUT on 2 September.  They were taught a new GIS system and then set a task to complete and had to do a GPS treasure hunt. They won the competition and came home with trophies, medals, certificates and vouchers.

  • 11 September: 1st Hockey Squad trials for 2020 continue (15h30-17h00)
  • 18 September: End of Season Hockey & Netball afternoon (U14A vs U16A; U19B vs Parents; U19A vs Past Pupils Team – times to be confirmed)
     
    SOCCER; WALKING CLUB and YOGA sessions will continue until Thursday 12 September.
    TEAM SPORTS – Coaches will communicate date of last session with their players.

Jade nominated for Ruggas.co.za Award for Excellence

Jade Lawson (Grade 12) was nominated for an excellence award on Ruggas.co.za. Jade is an unbelievably passionate junior rugby referee who refs schoolboys almost every weekend. She’s determined to succeed in a male dominated world and doesn’t hesitate to put in the hard work outside her academic and music commitments. Jade is the highest ranked junior female referee and has been invited to referee at an international tournament in Mauritius in September. Voting opens on 6 September.

President's Award

Our school a offers a variety of opportunities to get involved in wider the community. One of these opportunities is the President’s Award which pushes those who take part out of their comfort zones and teaches new lessons. 
Hannah Schaefer (Grade 12) attained the GOLD level. Isabella Elario, Mila Guerrini, Ashleigh Noyce (Grade 12s) and Megan de Villiers (Grade 11) all got SILVER this year.

ARCO Rustenburg Strings Collaboration

We are very excited to bring 21 young string players from Soweto to work with the Rustenburg Girls' High School String Ensemble. ARCO is an innovative alliance, established in 2015 between Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Morris Isaacson Centre for Music; an inspiring institution in Soweto, Johannesburg. https://www.bcu.ac.uk/conservatoire/about-us/arco 
There will be two performances open to the public; one at the V&A Waterfront on Sunday 29 September and another in the RGHS Kemp Hall on Monday 30 September at 19h00.
