Dear RGHS Parents and Learners

A very big thank you to all of the Matric Dance Committee, Ms Atkinson and Ms Gideon for an amazing event.  The matric learners looked glamorous and everyone seemed to enjoy the evening of dancing and delicious food.

It was a real pleasure to see so much support for the teams playing against Rhenish this weekend.  Thank you to everyone who came along and to all those team players who participated with such good sportsmanship, which made for exciting matches.  Please do take the time to come along again this Saturday as our netball teams take part in the PGSGU interschools’ final.  Congratulations to our squash team for coming second in the PGSGU tournament last week and thank you to their manager, Ms Lawrence.  For more excellent sports results, please read this week’s sports news.

Congratulations go to our Chamber Choir who claimed the top prize in the Western Cape in the KykNet Sing in Harmonie competition.  The judge’s praise, ‘the best choir I have ever heard’, made me very proud of Mr Goosen, Ms Thorne and every learner who was part of the choir.  They have been invited to participate in the finals, which will be recorded in Johannesburg at the end of October.

I wish our Matrics all the best with their Preliminary Examinations, which begin this Friday.  Remember to get some good rest in between all the past papers and revision that you are working through as this is a vital part of the process too.

I’d like to say a big thank you to the Rustenburg Alumae (@rustenburgalumae) who have identified a worthy recipient of a very generous R10 000 financial assistance each year for one of our 2020 Grade 8 learners.  If you or your company are keen to contribute towards this worthy cause please contact the Bursars’ office and ask for information on the tax relief this offers, along with the opportunity you offer to someone who would otherwise not be able to attend Rustenburg.

Please be aware that there will be increased traffic on campus this Friday 23 August. We are hosting the PGSGU Cross Country, which will mean that access to the back of the school will be blocked from 12 noon. All collections must therefore happen at the front of the school on that day.

We urge you to consider alternative plans for collecting your daughter. Please consider lift-clubs, off-site collection or a later collection time to help us ease the congestion on campus.
