General Notices

  • Security: Girls are reminded that it is their responsibility to keep their possessions safe and secure at all times. Each learner is issued with a locker where valuable possessions can be safely stored, and anything too valuable to be stored in their locker can be left in the school safe at the front office (as long as it is clearly marked). There have been a few incidents of phones going missing out of school bags recently – please remind your daughter to be careful with her valuable belongings.
  • Change to Calendar: For logistical reasons the English and Afrikaans/isiXhosa Writing exams for Grades 8 – 11 will both take place on Tuesday 18 September.
  • Photo orders: There are a number of new group photos available on (prices start at R50 for photo only). To order a photo, you need to register. If you have not yet registered, click on the 'Create an Account' link. You will need the unique code: RGHS2018. Please contact for queries.


Congratulations to the U14A, U16A and U19A Rustenburg Netball Teams for your amazing results in the PGSGU Netball Tournament. We won the U14 PGSGU title, the U19 PGSGU title and all three teams contributed to RGHS winning the PGSGU Goal Trophy. Photos: Jemma Cusens

Sports News and Results 6 September 2018

  • Soccer, Walking Club and Social Netball will continue until Thursday 20 September. 
  • Fixture: PGSGU U14 & U16 HOCKEY – Friday 7 September @ Wynberg Girls’ High School
  • Fixture: PGSGU U16 & U19 HOCKEY – Saturday 8 September @ Wynberg Girls’ High School
  • The Water Polo Open Air Movie Night will now take place on Saturday 27 October at Villagers Rugby Club.

Inter-Schools Cross Country at Rustenburg

On 31 August 2018, Rustenburg hosted the PGSGU Cross Country tournament. The tournament involved the following Cape Peninsula schools: Rustenburg, Herschel, Wynberg Girls, St. Cyprians and Springfield.

Visual Arts, Design and Photography Exhibition 2018

On the evening of 29 August, the Visual Arts, Design, and Photography students displayed their phenomenal works in Rustenburg’s annual art exhibition in the Thompson Hall. The exhibition is a chance for the girls to present their achievements to their parents and peers and take pride in the outcome of their many hours of hard work. Read more...

South African Mathematics Team Competition

Eight of our girls have been selected to represent Western Province in the South African Mathematics Team Competition. They will be writing at Stellenbosch University this Saturday. Congratulations and the best of luck!

Arbor Day 2018

The rain did not stop us from planting 6 new indigenous trees on campus! Thanks to the Support Staff and the Earth Children for leading this initiative.

LO Matters

  • Talk on self harm and adolescents struggling with thoughts of suicide by Foundations for Life on 8 September. See poster with details.
  • The University of Cape Town’s Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Division is excited to announce a 2-day Forensic Science Workshop hosted at UCT’s Medical School from 4-5 October 2018. Download poster with more details.

UCT Philosophy Course Feedback 

For three consecutive Thursday evenings from 16 August, UCT held their annual ‘Foundations in Philosophy’ course open to grades 10-12 pupils from selected schools. The theme this year was “Ethics in the 21st century”. A group of interested Rustenburg girls completed the course and found it to be an interesting and valuable experience. Read more about it...

I had the privilege of attending the Lerato’s Hope Open Day Celebration for their volunteers on 26 August 2018. I left Pinelands Baptist church, where the event was held, feeling very inspired as well as proud that Rustenburg is involved with this organisation. Read more...
