We had a great turnout for the Prospective Members' Meeting on Oct 18. Thanks to Rebecca Basset for leading the presentation and to all other SSAR members who came out to welcome potential new members.
If you're interested in SSAR and missed this session, don't panic! The next one will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30 pm at the Fire Training Centre, 116 Ave W S. Please RSVP to saskatoonsearchandrescue@gmail.com. Come and find out more about the training and expectations of being a SSAR member.

Report from
SARscene 2016
"I think perhaps the best thing I can say about attending SARscene2016 is that it made me aware of just how much more I have to learn about SAR—and made me excited to learn it." SSAR member Mark Wells shares his experience in this blog post. Thanks Mark!

What's Happening
At SSAR
In addition to SARscene, we've had a couple really good local training days. The Thursday evening session was led by Rebecca Basset and Kent Orosz.
Dale Liebrecht facilitated the Saturday training and everyone, at some point, took the lead in training.
The day was dedicated to improving efficiency, identifying areas needing improvement, and exposing strengths in support members for Command Staff. This included testing our radio communication equipment and KAS-10 technology.

Mental Health First Aid Training
Saskatoon Search and Rescue will be hosting a Mental Health First Aid course on January 7 & 8, 2017. The course is very valuable to SAR members as it teaches how to help people who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Members of all Saskatchewan SAR Chapters are welcome to attend. The course will be held in the Saskatoon Police Service Community Room. Those outside of Saskatoon SAR should send an email to get more information or to register.
We are very thankful to Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation for providing funding to help cover the cost of course materials and lunch. Thank you so much!!
Executive and Directors Meeting
The next SSAR Executive and Directors meetings will be held on Thursday, November 24, at 7 pm. These are business-style meetings of our chapter and are generally held the last Thursday of each month. All members are welcome to attend. If you would like to speak to an issue concerning SSAR, please notify the President prior to the meeting so time can be allotted on the agenda. If you would like a copy of the minutes from any past meetings, please email us.
