What's Happening

We're looking forward to the SARVAC workshop being held in Saskatoon, November 6 - 8. There are some really good topics and this is a great opportunity for SAR members across the province!

Congratulations to Tracy VanBrabant who successfully completed the AdventureSmart Train the Trainer course during the SARscene Conference which was held October 21-26 in Prince Edward Island. Diane VanBrabant and Scott Wright, alon lso attended the conference and all report lots of great learning that they can bring back to the Chapter. More details will be published in next month's newsletter.

On Sept 26-27, three SSAR members,
Kent Orosz, Sherry Buller and Henry Eng, headed to Melville where they instructed the Basic Searcher Course for the newly formed Parkland SAR Chapter. Parkland area did not have any trained members at the beginning of September but by the end of the month, they had ten newly trained members eager to continue training. They were instructed on everything from basic search techniques, equipment, navigation, to radio procedure and basic knots. They now look forward to developing their skills and expanding into new areas.  Saskatoon Search and Rescue wishes this new group the best in their continued growth and development.

Thanks to Kent Orosz and Shelley Ballard-McKinlay who led the navigation training days in October. With navigation being such an important, but perishable, skill, this was organized for all members in addition to being part of SSAR's Basic Searcher Course.
