What's Happening
At SSAR
SSAR members were on first aid duties at the Mid Summer Masters at Ebon Stables. Unfortunately, the show had to move inside due to all the rain. Still fun to watch though. Such beautiful animals! ‪#yxe‬ ‪#horses‬ ‪#SAR‬ ‪#firstaid‬ ‪#mud‬. Thanks to all our members who were able to help with first aid duties at Ebon Stables. Sherry Buller, Nelson Martell, Henry Eng, Paul Nutter, Don Brophy, Rod Miskolczi and Shelley Ballard-McKinlay. We received great feedback from the organizers and people attending commented on the visibility of our volunteers as well as how professional they were.
A new season of learning begins for the our newest members of Saskatoon Search and Rescue. Basic Searcher training is a time for new learning, and a great refresher for our current members. Welcome to SSAR!
On Tuesday we were privileged to have Chet Neufeld of the Native Plant Society of Saskatchewan take us out in the field. Chet showed us some of the edible plants available to us in Saskatchewan, should we be in a situation where we needed to find food, medicine and insect repellent. Thanks to Louis Bossaer for arranging this session.
Fall training is now in full swing starting with a nigh t of navigation.
A great night of practicing our GPS and compass skills.
Navigation is a very important part of search and rescue training. This skill enables members to determine position and maintain your directions and bearings thus knowing where you are at all times.
Thank you to Rebebecca Bassett for organizing this night.
Activation - Moose Jaw Saskatchewan
Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers chapter ‪#MooseJawSAR‬ activated a search for missing 53 y/o male in Moose Jaw by ‪#MJpolice‬.
Teams from ‪#SARSAV‬ chapters Search And Rescue Regina,Wood River Search and Rescue, and Saskatoon Search and Rescue activated and mobilized to assist.
The male was located and returned safely home. Thank you to all the GSAR Professional Volunteers for their effort today and thankful for the outcome.
