September 1 this year marks the 20th anniversary of the European Day of Jewish Culture, a pan-European festival of tourism and education centered on Jewish built heritage that takes place in more than two dozen countries across the continent.

JHE Director Ruth Ellen Gruber took part in the meeting in January 1999 that established the EDJC, and in our Have Your Say essay she looks back at the inception and evolution of what has become Europe’s most successful cross-border Jewish cultural initiative.

Jewish cemetery clean-ups and documentation

Many volunteer projects to clean up and maintain Jewish cemeteries have been taking place. We can't list all of them, but we ran two round-ups of more than 25.... See them HERE and HERE
