Merry Christmas from EagleTech Computer Service:

My wife - Laura and I, the owners of EagleTech Computer Service, would like to wish each of you a  very Merry Christmas. I know the commercialization of such a meaningful holiday as Christmas can be disturbing to many, but in the midst of it all if we can remember the true meaning of it and share that with our friends and family as we spend time together then the holiday can take on great significance for all of us. This is my encouragement to you. I'm personally sooo grateful the Lord came into the world for all of us and it is His love that continually inspires me to care for my clients in a way I think He would if He were the lead Tech at EagleTech Computer Service. I hope my service encourages you and that you know He is the inspiration behind it all...

Web Cam Concerns:

Recently, a Russian hacker posted online live links to more than 10,000 private cameras. They were accessible because the owners of the internet-connected devices (e.g., baby monitors, home security systems, etc.) used the web cam's default password during installation instead of creating a new password.

NBC's "The Today Show" explored this unnerving event with our partner, Kroll. Watch the clip here: Then restart your computer and nothing of that virus would remain.

What should I do?
Change the password if you have a device with a camera and used the default password when connecting to the internet.

Do not use the default password assigned by the manufacturer if you will soon be setting up a new internet-connected device.

Bitdefender Free Antivirus Software

I'm routinely installing Bitdefender free Antivirus on my own computers and all my client's computers for four reasons:

1. It's full version gets just about the highest rating of all antivirus programs and they have used the same core technology in their free version as they use in their full paid version.

2. It is not intrusive with all kinds of advertising pressure or pop-ups.

3. It runs very fast in the background - not using up precious processing resources.

4. It finds things you would want it to and removes them.

Here's a link to PC Magazines evaluation of it:,2817,2421257,00.asp

Here's how Bitdefender describes their free Bitdefender:

Unbreachable Security: Award-winning, free protection. Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition uses the best technologies created in Bitdefender's labs, internationally recognized for their ability to block even the threats that other products miss.

Zero configuration, zero interrupts: Say goodbye to checkboxes to tick and options to OK . Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition takes care of all the threats without bothering you with useless details.

Extremely light: When we say our product is light, we mean there is practically NO IMPACT on your PC's performance. Not even a trace of sluggishness, regardless of the age of your system.

Nag-free: We know you don't like it when intrusive commercials disrupt your user experience. That's why Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition only displays discreet, rare messages, with stuff you really need to know.

Cloud power: Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition uses Cloud scanning to accelerate detection and unravel new or unknown threats that other products miss.

Game on: Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is the perfect AV solution for gaming. It pauses major system scans until you hit Quit.

For rookies and techies: Friends or family ask you to install an antivirus on their machine? Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is easy to install and maintenance-free.

Windows 8 certified: Using the latest Windows? Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is the first free antivirus solution compatible with Windows 8.

Best times to buy a Computer?

FYI Best Buying Months?

Consumer Reports says the best months of the year to buy Laptops and Desktops are April and June and October. This isn't to say you won't find great buys in other months but these three months are the best. Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays are great "single" day buying times.

Best of success to you in all your computing!
I’m here to assist you when you need it.  As just a reminder... my onsite residential fee is $40 per hour and for the commercial setting it is $50 per hour. For those times when working remotely with your computer over the Internet is a good option then the cost savings to you are substantial since I only need to charge on a "15 minute" increment instead of the full hour fee for an onsite visit. This means just $10 per 15 minutes. Once again...for any clients you send my way, who use my services for an hour or more, I'd be happy to credit you with $10 of free computer service at your next call.  Do let me know if you send folks my way and I'll keep notes on that as a credit for my next visit to you, and don't feel embarrassed to remind me you would like that credit when I visit.
Thanks so much!
