Keltischer Winteranfang - Celtic Start of Winter

Heute Nacht beginnt mit dem Mondfest Samhain der keltische Winter. Heute kennt man dieses Fest zumeist unter dem Namen Halloween, welcher sich wiederum von dem Wort All Hallows Evening oder All Hallows Eve ableitet (zu Deutsch: Allerheiligen-Abend). Und im christlichen Kalender ist es auch genau das: der Abend vor Allerheiligen, auf welchen zunächst der Tag Allerheiligen am 1. November folgt und dann Allerseelen am 2. November.
In einigen Ländern, wie zum Beispiel in Mexiko, feiert man Allerseelen auch als Tag der Toten. Dann bereitet man ein großes Picknick vor mit besonderen Speisen und bringt es zu den Friedhöfen um dort gemeinsam mit den verstorbenen Ahnen zu speisen.
Im keltischen Kalender markiert Samhain den Eintritt in einen neuen Jahreskreis – es ist also das keltische Neujahrsfest. Gleichzeitig wird nun die dunkelste Zeit des Jahres eingeläutet. Die Säfte der Natur ziehen sich ins Innere zurück und die Welt wird still.
Gedanken über Natur
Ich finde die Idee schön, das neue Jahr mit Besinnlichkeit und Innenschau zu beginnen. So gewinnen wir Klarheit über uns selbst und können als Folge auch die Welt um uns herum klarer erkennen. Das gibt unseren Absichten und Wünschen für das kommende Jahr Kraft.
Die Natur zeigt uns, wie das geht, mit der Innenschau und Besinnlichkeit. Man schaue sich nur die Bäume und viele andere Pflanzen an. Sie ziehen sich jetzt in sich selbst zurück und sammeln neue Kraft für den Frühling. Viele Tiere halten jetzt Winterschlaf und lassen ihre Gedanken und Taten ruhen, bis sich der Jahreskreis um ein Viertel gedreht hat.
Solche Pausen sind wichtig. Das wird in einer schnelllebigen Welt wie jener, die wir uns im Fischezeitalter erschaffen haben, leicht unterschätzt und gerne vergessen.
Doch jetzt leben wir im Wassermannzeitalter und eine neue Ära hat begonnen. Die Menschen besinnen sich wieder zurück auf die Natur und ihre Rhythmen, die ganz leicht in unser Leben fließen und uns auf beinahe magische Weise stärken, wenn wir es nur erlauben. Wir er-innern uns wieder daran, was uns gut tut.

Wenn Dir die Spaziergänge mit Kim und mir gefallen, lohnt es sich auch dieses Mal, wieder dort vorbeizuschauen, denn es gibt ein paar neue Einträge.
Da in meinem Leben noch immer sehr viel los ist, und zudem mein rechter Zeigefinger noch immer krumm ist, poste ich weiterhin eher unregelmäßig, weshalb auf meinem Blog nicht ganz so viele Beiträge erschienen sind, wie normalerweise.

Tonight the Celtic Winter begins with the moon feast Samhain. Today, this festival is commonly known by the name Halloween which derives from the word All Hallows Evening or All Hallows Eve. And in the Christian calendar that is exactly what it is: the evening before All Saints (All Hallows), followed by All Saints Day on November 1st and then All Souls Day on November 2nd.
In some countries, like, for example, Mexico, All Souls Day is also celebrated as the Day of the Dead. Then, a big picnic with special foods is being prepared and brought to the graveyards to dine together with the deceased ancestors.
In the Celtic calendar, Samhain marks the beginning of a new round on the Wheel of the Year – thus it is the Celtic New Year’s festival. At the same time the darkest season of the year is now rung in. Nature’s juices are pulling back inside and the world becomes still.
Musings on Nature
I like the idea of beginning the new year with contemplation and introspection. This way we achieve clarity about ourselves and as a result we are also able to see the world around us more clearly. This gives power to our intentions and desires for the coming year.
Nature shows us how that works regarding introspection and contemplation. Just take a look at the trees and many other plants. They are presently retreating within themselves and are collecting new strength for the Spring. Many animals are now hibernating and allowing their thoughts and deeds to rest until the Wheel of the Year has turned by a quarter.
Such breaks are important. In fast moving times like the one we created for ourselves during the Pisces age this is easily underrated and likely to be forgotten.
Yet, now we are living in the age of Aquarius and a new era has begun. People are turning back to Nature and her rhythms, again, which flow into our lives quite easily and strengthen us in an almost magical way when we just allow it. On a deep inner foundation we remember again that which is good for us.
