Unpave Paradise Presentation
Thursday, April 19 - 7:00 pm
Lower Native Sons Hall, Courtenay
The Comox Valley Council of Canadians is pleased to host Project Watershed's exciting presentation on the biggest, most ambitious 're-wilding' project ever undertaken in the Comox Valley.

Project Watershed and the K’ómoks First Nation share a dream to restore the old Fields Sawmill site on the Courtenay River back to its natural habitat of estuary salt-mash and riverside forest. The project site is named Kus-kus-sum in recognition of the historic First Nation village once located in the area.

Everyone welcome! Thursday, April 19 Lower Native Sons Hall, 360 Cliffe Ave., Courtenay - 7:00 pm.

Water as A Human Right, A Public Trust & A Shared Commons
The campaign work of the Council of Canadians focuses on recognizing water as a human right, a public trust and shared commons. The commons consists of gifts of nature such as fresh water, oceans, air and wildlife. The chapter letter, available here, addresses these basic rights.
Monday, April 16 - Lower Native Sons Hall - 7:00 pm

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) and the Province of BC are hosting an “Existing Use” groundwater licensing public talk. This is relevant for anyone interested in how water is managed in BC, particularly after the Water Sustainability Act was introduced in 2016.

Representatives from the provincial water authorizations branch (FLNRO), Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Environment will describe BC’s historic and current water laws, groundwater management, water governance, the in-stream flow measures and adaptation to climate change.

The CVRD will present on their project to understand current and future agricultural water demands in the Tsolum River Watershed. No registration is required.
