Workplace Stress Management Programs Play Significant Role!
Studies show workplace stress management programs are effective and they play a significant role for organizations looking to improve their working environment, retain their employees, and ultimately create culture of total worker health.. Excessive stress leads employees to have difficulty managing emotions, focusing their attention, making decisions and thinking clearly or objectively.  It also leads to negative coping skills and is associated with sickness, heart disease, cancer, pain, anxiety and depression, all of which can result in higher absenteeism, disability, healthcare costs and lost productivity.

For the Employer
Successful workplace stress management programs focus on both individual stress management programs to increase psychological resources and responses and organizational development and design programs to improve the working environment. Model Employer takes TWH Approach to Work Environment
Johnson Machines Works, a Gold Well Workplace by the Wellness Council of Iowa and Wellness Council of America, exemplifies a total worker health  approach to the workplace environment. The steel fabrication business of approximately 100 employees in Chariton, Iowa makes safety part of everyone’s number one goal each day, to not only work productively, but also work safely so they can go home to their families each night. Policy Update-Employers Required to Notify Employees of Exchanges
Recently released federal guidelines require employers to notify their workers of coverage options available through their state insurance exchanges by Oct. 1, 2013. This means in the coming months, employee communication regarding future insurance options is critical. Guidance and model notices are available from the US Department of Labor to help employers meet content requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
