10 artists about to be launched into SPACE!
Award-winning arts organisation The Performance Corporation are hosting the sixth SPACE Programme.
The SPACE Programme is an international artists’ residency hosted by The Performance Corporation. Running since 2008, it offers an opportunity for artists of all disciplines to collaborate, experiment and innovate in an inspiring environment. It is a unique programme which the company describes as a “research and development lab” for the arts, and aims to develop artists through collaborative workshops, inspiring field trips and allowing space for innovation.
“We first ran the programme in 2008 and many of the ideas developed over the years in SPACE ended up featuring in subsequent projects we've produced, like BIG HOUSE Festival in 2013" said Jo Mangan, CEO of The Performance Corporation. “We’re really excited to welcome artists to explore their craft with us once again, and be inspired through collaboration with artists they wouldn't normally have the opportunity to work with.”
The SPACE Programme facilitates collaborations with others on new approaches to making work, but without the pressure of a deadline or the expectation of a fully finished product. The only requirement is an openness to collaboration. Previous participants have come from fields including: theatre, visual arts, music, architecture, science, design, film, dance, circus, writing, comedy, opera and photography.
The SPACE Programme runs from 20th November, at the Tyrone Gurtherie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co Monaghan. The following participants were chosen from among hundreds of applicants from all over the world:
Amanda Feery - Composer & Educator (Ireland)
Fionnuala Gygax - Actor & Theatre-maker (Ireland)
