Your audience is made up of human beings.

Your buyers are human beings.

Shouldn't we, therefore, be sure that we're speaking human? Not jargon, not tech-speak; but plain, understandable, memorable HUMAN-speak.

If you hope to sell, and to be referred, your message must be human-ready.

From my upcoming book, Clarity Wins:

Here’s the only safe assumption you can have as you approach the marketplace: nobody will understand unless you make your message crystal-clear, so even family members and strangers can explain what you do. Your communications have to pass the everyday human test. It’s a test you fail when website lingo or sales presentations don’t get to the point in the first 30 seconds.

Some people in business seem to feel that the more technical they sound, the more impressive they are. But all that does is get us tuned out. What if we all talked like this:

 • Teaching = human-generated intergenerational content transmission services

 • Desk lamp = location-dependent photon-generation platform

 • Clock = sequential time expiration presentation system (visual)

 • Coffee = liquified energy-resource renewal solution

People won't remember jargon. Which means you have a chance to break through and stand out simply by being...understandable. Clear. Human.
