Good morning, <<First Name>>!
As you've probably seen in the news, the Nashville area experienced an unexpectedly intense storm system last night, including a couple of deadly tornadoes.
I am OK, as are all of my family members. We live south of Nashville, in Franklin, where we were surrounded by thunder and lightning, but no tornadoes. One of my sons had been very close to staying overnight in the East Nashville neighborhood that was hardest hit, but plans fell through....thankfully.
The death toll is mercifully low here in greater Nashville but it appears to be much higher in Cookeville, a small city east of here where another twister touched down. The damage visible in all the photos now emerging is heart-breaking to see.
A number have reached out with expressions of concern, for which I thank you. Nashville is an amazingly resilient and compassionate city, and I have no doubt that its residents will rise to this challenge with the signature neighborly love and community spirit that makes this city so special.
