Resonate: Testing Services with a Foundation in Engineering Excellence
Welcome to the Resonate Testing September E-Newsletter.

September Showtime

Another busy month with plenty to fill up our newsletter!  Probably the key event in September was the first part of our ISO17025 Quality Audit conducted by UKAS.  You can read how we got on below along with where we’ve been out and about attending shows and visiting new clients across the UK & Ireland.

Looking ahead, on Monday 3rd October we will be launching our Shake, Rattle and Roll schools competition at the start of World Space Week at the Armagh Planetarium.  Check out our website news – www.resonatetesting.com – from Monday for links, including our funky video starring some of the team.

And following the popularity of last month’s joke competition (well done to Leslie Orr), we have a caption competition for you this month, with another pair of Ulster Rugby tickets on offer for the best entry.

Kind Regards

    Michael Thompson, General Manager

Quality Matters
Over the last 6 months we have been working towards gaining UKAS accreditation under ISO17025 for a range of Fire, Vibration and Flammability test services.  A full Quality Management system has been developed to manage every aspect of the business and technical function with heavy supplementary documentation incorporating procedures, test methods, work instructions, risk assessments and templates.

On 6th and 7th September we successfully completed the first half of the ISO17025 UKAS audit for Vibration and Flammability test services.  Two UKAS auditors, Barry Middleton and Chris Arthur, visited our premises in Newry and over the period of two days, Resonate underwent a detailed assessment of all Vibration and Flammability capabilities, and the supporting management system. After receiving a very positive assessment report and only a small number of actions requiring attention, partial grant is expected late October 2016.

The second half of the UKAS audit is scheduled for early November with John Leadbetter, UKAS’ fire test specialist, attending the premises to assess our Fire Test capabilities.

Full ISO17025 accreditation is expected by the end of the year.  This will be a key milestone and achievement for Resonate Testing Ltd as we place quality at the core of our test and customer services.

Making an Exhibition of Ourselves
As we build up our capabilities we are increasingly encouraged at how much transfer of knowledge from our aerospace backgrounds we can make to other advanced engineering disciplines, and amazed at the range of industry on our doorstep.  New sectors of course provide new challenges in getting to grips with sector requirements and needs, such as test standards and specifications, as well as ensuring that tests provide value to our clients' development needs.  One way to do this is to get on the trade show circuit.

As many of you will undoubtedly know, there are a lot of options when it comes to attending and exhibiting at trade shows which can come almost weekly!  During this month I’ve travelled twice to the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire for the DVD Defence Show and the Low Carbon Vehicle Show.  Millbrook is a huge testing complex complete with tracks where some of the Top Gear stunts are filmed.

Both shows provided an interesting insight into the defence and automotive sectors respectively, along with some interested new prospects.  This week alone we visited Sensors & Instrumentation 2016 at the NEC, as well as a The Motorsport Industry Association Forum event in London.

Later in the year we will be exhibiting at the Advanced Engineering Show at the NEC Birmingham as well as heading back to Millbrook for the Automotive Testing Show in early December.  And before that we will be attending Helitech in Amsterdam, MedTech Ireland in Galway, an ADS members event at Airbus Bristol, as well as sending the engineering team to the US to present at the prestigious FAA Triennial in Atlantic City.

We didn’t expect that building our brand in new sectors would be easy and these shows certainly provide an interesting insight into the breadth of industry that exists.  Hopefully all the shoe leather will pay off in increased business!

Ulster Rugby Giveaway
Congratulations to Leslie Orr, Manager at ADS NI, who is the winner of our August Newsletter 'Engineering Joke of the Month' competition.  A nice, simple gag (and one of the few printable ones):

'All great Engineers are good at maths, but they can't spel.'

Leslie wins 2 tickets for an upcoming Ulster Rugby game at Kingspan.

For your chance to win 2 tickets for an Ulster Rugby home match simply caption the picture below - keep it short (and printable!):

As usual, I’ll be the judge, jury, rule setter etc. (it really is just for fun). Best caption emailed to me at michaelthompson@thenacellegroup.com by 12th October will win the tickets.
