Dear <<First Name>>,

The Masai Mara can be a minefield of information with so many lodge options to choose from and so many properties claiming to be 'luxurious' and 'unique'. Therefore, I thought it would be useful to highlight the key reasons for visiting Saruni Mara and Saruni Wild. Hope you enjoy the latest images fresh in of the new Saruni Wild - simply click on the photo above!
The Unique Experience of the Private Conservancies
  • Mara North Conservancy – in which Saruni Mara is located - is regarded as a model example of responsible tourism in Kenya and in East Africa; Lemek Conservancy – in which Saruni Wild is located – is one of the best-kept secrets in the Mara ecosystem. The private conservancies of the Mara are a great example of successful conservation at work, admired across the continent;
  • Both conservancies offer exclusivity: no crowds, no minibuses, etiquette rules followed by everybody, a limited number of vehicles. Both are responsibly-managed and responsibly-operated private wildernesses in partnership with the Maasai communities. Only the few lodges located in Mara North can game drive across its vast plains;
  • Incredible wildlife viewing: excellent and consistent numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and plains game year round. Due to the density of wildlife and the wide open plains, ticking off what you want to see is easy, unlike in other parts of Africa; each game drive rewards you with incredible, close-up wildlife encounters and is action-packed!
  • The Great Migration occurs in Mara North during the months July-October and is a spectacular experience, but any month is a great time to visit, with year round abundant game viewing;
  • Mara North reminds each visitor of the Africa of my dreams". Stunningly beautiful, wild and at the same time serene.
Saruni & the Maasai People
  • A key part of your experience in the Masai Mara staying at Saruni are the Maasai staff and guidesover 80% are local Maasai and many of them physically built Saruni Mara with me. We have worked together in partnership since the lodge opened in June 2003;
  • The Maasai are one of the most traditional tribes in Africa: warm, fun and extremely hospitable – as they guide you through their ancient lands, you feel humbled as you learn all about their culture, history and traditions;
  • Many of our guides are silver level, recognising their safari expertise and experience;
  • You directly contribute to its conservation: all of the park fees go directly to the Maasai communities and in partnership with them, we protect and retain the authenticity of the experience for future generations;
  • Saruni quite simply offers you Kenyan culture at its best.
Saruni Mara & Its Activities
  • As with all the Saruni properties, being “off the beaten track”, Saruni Mara was strategically built away from the other properties in the Mara to give you incredible views over the plains;
  • Saruni Mara is the smallest permanent lodge in the Masai Mara; only five cottages and two private villas with a maximum capacity of 18 guests;
  • For those of you who want comfort, sense of safety and luxury, Saruni Mara is the perfect choice: the elegant interiors, the large bathrooms and terraces overlooking the plains below, the attention to detail, the easy telecommunications, the gourmet Italian cuisine;
  • All of the cottages are themed differently and are beautifully and classically furnished. It's easy for you to choose where to stay! We have the Love Shack, the Photographer's Studio, the Observatory, the Artist’s Studio, the Literary Room, the Family Suite and the Owner's Private Villa, Nyati House. Check out the photos;
  • After a thrilling game drive, unwind in the lounge or library or treat yourself to a rejuvenating treatment in the best spa in the Kenyan bush!
  • Our video embodies the Mara experience in Saruni;
  • Saruni offers gentle and slow-paced safaris, savour bush breakfasts in stunning locations – why rush your experience?;
  • When staying 3 nights, experience our famous bush dinner, as you dance around the fire with Maasai warriors under the vast African skies, you are seeing the real culture of the area in a spectacular and dramatic setting;
  • During the migration season, those of you on a 3 night stay can have a full day game drive in the National Reserve at no extra cost (it increases the chances of seeing a river crossing);
  • Additionally, you can participate in the Warriors Academy: a family-friendly experience learning about bush skills, traditions and how to become a warrior!;
  • We have access to a nearby rhino sanctuary, that allows you to get up close and personal with the rare white rhino species;
We have been hosting a number of exclusive-use weddings – the wedding package is only US$3,000.
Why is Saruni Wild so special?
  • Saruni Wild is the smallest tented camp in the Masai Mara – ideal for privacy and an incredible under canvas experience: only 8 guests!
  • There are only three tents – a double family tent and two single luxury tents. The family tent has two bathrooms and two bedrooms facing the Mara plains; both luxury single tents have king-size beds, are large and comfortable with a very private setting;
  • WOW location, right in the heart of the Mara wildlife: Saruni Wild is on the border between Lemek Conservancy and Mara North Conservancy (less than 10 mins' drive from Mara North airstrip), always surrounded by wildlife. You can view the plains game and wildlife directly from your tent – everything is literally on your doorstep!
  • Oil lamps, dinner under the stars and drinks around the camp fire, this is a small camp with a big heart!
  • Personal, intimate and wildly romantic, this offers a great stand-alone safari or a great combination with Saruni Mara (approximately a 30 mins' game drive away).
