We Did It! Crest Street Park Has A New Playground

The KaBOOM! playground build at Crest Street Park was a tremendous success!

On Wednesday, August 24th, 210 volunteers moved like a swarm to assemble a brand new playground at Crest Street Park. In just six short hours, Durham had a new beautiful place for our kids to play. Of course, the playground build would not have been possible without all the hard work of the steering committee who planned all the logistics from morning coffee to collecting enough tools for over 200 volunteers. Leading up to the event, 100 volunteers helped precut wood for benches, sign posts, and shade structure and organize all the supplies for the build day.

The playground build was a partnership between Keep Durham Beautiful, Durham Parks & Recreation Department, BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina, the Crest Street Community, Duke Durham Partnership and KaBOOM!

To learn more about the playground build, check out the event recap on our website here and check out the video of volunteers celebrating a job well done by dancing to the wobble!
