The Nature of Pragmatic Right Faith and Deshavrati

In ancient times, a shravak would observe twelve vows. By observing the vows, he would practice renunciation partially. That’s why he is known as deshavrati (partial restraint). How does a shravak become deshavrati technically?

Kshayopashama (subsistence-cum-destruction) of darshansaptak is the first necessary condition for partial restraint. The consciousness of restraint never gets awakened in the absence of samyaktva. The second condition of accepting partial restraint is subsiding-cum-destruction of pratyaakhyaanaavaran karma (the cause of non-renunciation). One detests taking any vow or practicing restraint, whilst this karma exists.

There are four stages of Mohaniya karma (Deluding karma):
1. Anantaanubandhi – Cause of endless transmigration
2. Apratyaakhyaanaavaran – Cause of non-renunciation
3. Pratyaakhyaanaavaran – Cause of hindrance in complete renunciation
4. Sanjvalan – Obstacle in veetaraagata (state of complete detachment)

Samyaktva cannot take place while the first stage exists. The consciousness of partial renunciation gets awakened with the subsistence-cum-destruction of apratyaakhyaanaavaran, which is the second stage. Subsistence-cum-destruction of the third stage pratyaakhyaanaavaran karma is required for complete renunciation. For veetaraagata, destruction of the fourth stage is required.

Paryushan Mahaparva 2020
Navkar mantra is supreme among all mantras, there is no bigger Charity than Abhay Daan, similarly  Paryushan is the supreme festival among all festivals. The first seven days of the festival are celebrated for spiritual upliftment of the soul and the eighth day is for attainment. The eight day is called - Samvatsari which is dedicated to forgiveness. A day to let go of our likes and dislikes.

Under guidance of Samani Malaypragyaji and Samani Neetipragyaji’s guidance, Paryushan activities and celebration reached a new high at JVBNA in 2020.The celebration started on the eve of Paryushan with Samani Malaypragyaji’s special session on Gateway to Get Away. She set the tone and motivated participants to get ready for a true spiritual immersion for the eight days of Paryushan.

At JVBNA, New Jersey, daily schedule of Paryushan Mahaparva included, Mantra Jaap (Bhaktamar Strotra, Chaitta Bharam, Namioon, Navkar Mantra Jaap) , discussion on "Decoding Navkar Mantra" with Samani Neetipragyaji, daily evening Pratikraman and Pravachan series on Paving the Path to Purity with Samani Malaypragyaji.

Samani Neetipragyaji discussed the meaning of supreme Mantra, Navkar Mahamantra. We recite this everyday but yet never thought about the hidden meaning and purpose of this most powerful mantra and its real purpose. Navkar Mahamantra is the most profound mantra that is universal and the most powerful. This mantra addresses the divine qualities and attainments of all the arihantas, siddhas and sages. Navkar mantra is beyond the boundaries of religion, caste and creed. Chanting this mantra regularly with devotion, dedication and sincerity can have a great cleansing effect on the individuals. This mantra is not for achieving your desires, but the right purpose of this mantra is to get rid of your desires. The creation of this mantra is for spiritual upliftment.

Samani Malaypragyaji discussed on how to pave our path to purity using Mangal Bhavana. The lecture series used how Mangal Bhavna Mantra can be used to achieve Prosperity(Shree Sampann), Self Discipline (Hri Sampann), Wisdom (Dhi Sampann), Patience ( Dhriti Sampann), Strength (Shakti Sampann), Peace ( Shanti Sampann), Happiness ( Nandi Sampann). Samaniji discussed these topics with beautiful examples which gave insight to the importance of achieving these qualities and how it can transform our day to day working, thinking and social interaction. How materialistic thinking differ from spiritual thinking ? How can we identify which is better and more stratifying in the long run ? And much more of such self introspective thinking.
